I am new to the board, but not new to Atkins Dieting. My husband and I have done the Atkins diet several times. I lost 25 lbs previously, but never reached my goal weight, kinda fell of the wagon so to speak. I think my DH lost 35 lbs. We was only on it for 2-3 months and did well when we was serious. Well I have gained back that 25 lbs plus about 7-10 more in the past 1 to 1 1/2 yrs.
I talked my friend into doing the diet a couple of years ago. For the first 6 months she cheated and didn't loose hardly anything, saw no changes in her cholesterol (of which she takes medication for) and was ready to give up when we had a little talk. I finally convinced her that she WAS cheating and if she wanted to loose the weight, she would not cheat and get serious. Well last year she got real serious and lost about 35 lbs. She looked GREAT and her cholesterol was the BEST it had been in years. All last year I didn't get serious about the diet and basically gained back all I had lost the year before. My friend spent the past 3 weeks at her families in PA and stuffing her face. She told me she gained 15 lbs. She said she was starting her diet again and I said GOOD, cause I needed to start it too and we could start it together. She doesn't have 1/4 the weight to loose as I have but since we go to dog shows together and she pretty well stays on the diet as a WOL, I know I will have some good support. My husband is starting it too.
I need to loose 50 lbs, my Dh needs to loose more. I am going to the doctor on the 24th. I have some considerable back issues going on and it has just gotten unbearable in the past few months. I know exercising is going to be a problem but I would like to get a bowflex so I can do some non weight bearing excercises to help me tone and build some muscles and hopefully strengthen the muscles in my back.
I am a registered nurse that doesn't work. I haven't worked as a nurse for almost 10 yrs now, though I keep my license active. I am an avid dachshund fancier and LOVE going to dog shows. My husband is a Vet, so that works out REAL well for me
We both LOVE the Indianapolis Colts. I am looking forward to starting the diet and loosing some weight and hopefully becoming more physically fit.
Hopefully this board will be another tool for a successful weight loss program.
Thanks for having me!
