Hiya! I've been lurking around here for some time. Back in 2002, I went on 'my' version of Adkins, and lost 25 pounds in a couple months. I wasn't terribly commited to it, taking weekends off, and not exercising.
But I was pleased because for all the diets I had ever been on, this was the first time the scale ever moved. (Down that is)
Over the course of time, I gained back all the weight,of course, and restarted unsuccessfully a couple times. I bought lots of bars and relied on them to ease my sugar cravings (BAD ANSWER) and never really went anywhere with it. "I'll do it tomorrow, I'll do it tomorrow..."
Fast forward.....Over the summer I met a charming man who enjoys good food as much as me, and we've become great fat friends. We love each other for who we are, and thats nice, but not very productive as far as minding what goes into ones mouth. I grew tired of not fitting into my 'thinner' clothes, and the final straw came on New Years Eve when I was standing in my bedroom in tears, surrounded by 5 or 6 outfits that didn't fit.
We both started the program on 1/15/06. By. The. Book. I'm using recipes from The Book, as well as things I've found on here. This forum is a great source of inspiration. I have the 1 & 2 mile Walk Away the Pounds DVD, and I'm walking just a mile daily. I'll up it to two miles this coming weekend.
Prince Charming is astonished that we can eat such good stuff and lose weight. Now I know we're not too far into it, but already I feel great, and I make a conscious decision DAILY not to get on the scale and to drink all my water. (Prince Charming is on his own, water wise, I'm not going to be the hydration ****)
That ALL that being said, thanks so much to everyone who posts here for being a huge inspiration to me.
