  • Hi guys i need help!

hello everyone my name is sally i'm from new zealand and am very keen to get started on the atkins diet. I bought the book when it first hit the shelves but unfortunately due to my health and gallstones i just couldn't get on with it although i loved the food the food didn't like me.
I am now at my heaviest weight and seem to have gained weight from having my gallbladder out, mind you having 5 children hasn't helped my eating habits,
anyway i weigh 238lbs at present and my goal is 160lbs so 78lbs is my target guys.
I have no idea what food to eat and have to totally re-educate myself but am going to give it my best shot, you are going to see a lot more of me on here i hope i don't make a nuisance of myself.
I would be grateful for any advice from any of you, you all inspire me as your success is awesome.

    Sally,

Welcome. I'm in West Oz. You sound a lot like me 8 months ago. I've lost 26 lbs (which is slower than most) and still have 50 to go. But I have a lot more energy than I had even on goal at WW. Atkins does work and even better you are a lot healthier as you lose weight.

        Hi sally,

        welcome to ADBB!

Since you have the book, may I suggest you read it - it will explain in detail what to eat. I just saw your Journal stats entry, so you have started induction today... for a quick overview you could hop over to the induction forum to read the stickies. There is a great wallet-sized list of allowed foods for induction. But still, I recommend reading the book completely, it helps tremendously with understanding this way of eating (WOE).

You've come to the right place, we're all in the same boat - so if you have any questions or just need a shoulder to cry on (we all have these days), someone on this board will be here for you.

Re: Hi guys i need help!

            Hi Sally and welcome aboard!!!!
happy to hear you decided to visit and spend time on this board, it's a great choice and start! don't do it without reading the book first though, ADBB works following DANDR to the letter and following the rules is the only way to assure you a weightloss that lasts forever! Sharing support, inspiration, motivation and encouragemnt, that's what ADBB is all about! Read the stickies at the top of the forum to get some good advice and useful tips, visit the before and after picture and you will see that dreams come true even for people like you who have a lot of weight to lose! You will find a lot of other heavy buddies in the Century Club and no matter which is our starting weight we are all walking the same path to a better and healthier us!
Re-educate yourself to a new WOE takes time a commitment! You have probably stopped at a certain point to listen to your body, you've forgotten what its needs and desires are. Changing the way you look at food is the first step and I am sure all the info you will find in the first chapters of DANDR will teach you how your body react to food and how take care of it! Make yourself at home in here and tell us your story, your doubts, ask questions (even the ones you think may be silly), advice, post your menus once you start induction (there is a big bunch of moderators and friends at ADBB ready and happy to review them for you). This is too a tough battle to be fought alone and we are all here to share the burden and divide the grief!
Happy lowcarbing and hope to see you around often!
