I'm from houston and started atkins 1/1/06. so far i've only lost 4 pounds, and am staying on induction until something happens! i'm walking on my new treadmill twice daily (20 minute mile each time). trying to not be discouraged. any encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome. Are you following strict induction and drinking lots of water? If not, that could be why you haven't lost more. But hey, 4 pounds is 4 pounds. It counts! Congrats!

Well there's a couple of ways to look at this

In 23 days you've lost over 10% of the weight you want to lose. That's pretty darn good by all accounts!
