  • It starts next week

Hi all. I'm happy to be here and to introduce myself. I'm determined to start Atkins again after splitting the back seams of 2 pairs of shorts last week. Funny how the weight just creeps up on ya! I did Atkins back in 2000 and had good success with it, lost 25 pounds and felt GREAT while on the diet. I had tons of energy, I don't think I ever felt better in my life. I fell off the diet when I had to take care of a personal situation related to one of my parents, and I found I was eating fast food on the run more often than not. I never got 'back on the wagon' after that. I gained back everything I lost plus more. About 6 months ago I gave up my office job and now work at home, and the weight has been creeping up even more since then. A major problem is that I hate to exercise, and my job entails sitting in front of a computer all day. I quit smoking a few weeks ago, and that's going OK. I had stopped for 12 years before, so I know I can do it again. Anyway, I'm glad to be here for the mutual support we provide to each other. I can use it, for sure!
Oh, BTW, I'm in south FL, female, mid-50's. Not looking for a date, LOL!

      Hi, umscats

Welcome! I can certainly relate to what you said. I too have rejoined Atkins after having lost a chunk of weight while on it, feeling and looking so much better and then gradually going back to my old eating habits. I've just been back on Induction a little over 3 weeks, but I am feeling much better already. I don't know why I ever went away from it to begin with!

Congratulations on quitting smoking!! I know that must be tough. (I don't smoke but my husband does and he can't seem to quit.)
Glad you're back on Atkins and good luck with your induction. There are a lot of nice and knowledgeable people on this board, and some fun ones, too So, enjoy!

Welcome! Glad to hear that Atkins worked for you the first time! It will work for you again, there are lots of stickies to read to answer any questions you might have as you prepare to get back on the wagon.

          Good luck!

            Hey umscats,

That creeping up of the weight is something we can all attest to. I'm "restarting" Atkins after successfully losing 45 pounds and then stalling endlessly. I'm amazed whenever I stumble because I feel so GOOD when I'm on track so I know I'm my own worst enemy.
Great job on quitting smoking. I kicked my three-pack-a-day habit in 1985. I'm glad I did it but I replace cigarettes with food and have been battling the bulge ever since! But there's safety in numbers and the numbers are here! We can be losers together.
