    1st day

    Hi,

Today I started Atkins !! to be honest I was quite excited..!!

For breakfast I had a combination of egg, bacon and sausage cooked together in a muffin tin (recipe from recipes).

Lunch I had 2 cups of salad (1 cup of lettuce and 1 cup of a mixture of tomatoes, cucumber and mushrooms and some cheese.

Dinner I had sirlion steak and cauliflower cheese (recipe from 14 day induction book) which was yummy.(cauliflower 1 cup)

snacks 2 chicken wings one cocktail sausage

approx 6 glasses of water decaf tea no milk or sugar

Only question is am I able to have more than the 3 cups of either salad or veg

Over all im feeling ok or though this afternoon I felt quite tired, But hey 1 day down 14 or so to go....

    Re: 1st day

Hi, Chelsea. Welcome to the board. Good job on the first day. The first 2 or 3 are the hardest, then ketosis kicks in and you're good to go from there on out.

As far as your menu, it looks okay to me. Not knowing your portion size for the cauliflower and the amount of tomato in your salad, you are fairly close to the limit. It's 2-3 cups of loosely packed salad greens OR two cups greens and one cup veggies. The cauliflower and tomato count as veggies while the cucumber and of course the lettuce are greens.

After induction you move into OWL and can add additional carbs.

I personally use www.fitday.com to track what I eat during my extended induction. Staying under 20 net carbs a day can help you hit ketosis faster and speed your weight loss.

Great work on your first day. If you have any questions, please post away!

          Re: 1st day

          Rick is right chelsea,
be careful with the size of tomatoes and cauliflowers, they are both listed in the veggie allowed in 1cup a day. So if you have 1cup of cauliflower you should avoid tomatoes the same day!

Hey girl! Welcome - you have certainly come to the right place if you're looking for success and support!

I agree with my friend FLUFF - go to FITDAY.com and learn your way around. It is really important to know your totals for each and every day - carbs, fat & protein. It always takes a little fine-tuning at first - but you doing great so far!!!
