          Hi GG,
if you need support and motivation to start this wol you came in the right place! the first time I did it on my own, I failed because of ignorance (be sure to read DANDR before starting it's a must), lack of discipline, constancy and accoutability. this nutritional approach really works but at the same time it is demanding and challenging. If you need help in pursuing a clean strict induction my best advice is to apply for Boot Camp as soon as possible. I've just finished boot camp today and .......what a difference!!!!! it is a great fulfilling experience and it will ensure you the best fundation to built up your WOL! give it a try!

You can definitely do this. Not only will you lose the weight, but you will feel so much better. You will be ableto eat until your not hungry anymore, but I found my hunger has dropped dramatically on Atkins. Some things I think help is drinking water (i drink 8-10 glasses), trying to fit in some daily exercise, and taking vitamins/supplements. And of course reading the book.

I am taking chromium supplements. I heard this helps with the atkins diet. Is this true? What other supplements are good to take for faster weight loss?

Re: I'm new and need help!

Welcome! You've chosen the right way of eating, that's for sure. You will be amazed how the pounds melt off if you stick to the book! And I know if you come to the board you will always find helpful advice, support, comfort, whatever you need. I think you'll also be amazed how easy this "diet" is. I don't feel like I'm on a diet at all as most people think of it. Most days I feel like I've indulged, and can't believe the type of food I'm having while watching myself shrink! A big juicy steak, chicken breasts stuffed with bacon and cheese, I could go on and on. My first word of advice would be to just STEEL yourself and be DETERMINED to get through the first 4-5 days. It will be the only difficult time, if you have difficulty at all. If you're used to heavy doses of sugar, junk food, or especially CAFFEINE, your body will be going through withdrawal and you won't feel too great for a few days. But once you're past that, on about day 4 or 5, you'll be astounded. You'll feel clearer, you'll have more energy, your appetite will stop raging, and cravings will disappear. It's smooth sailing after that, just make sure you read the book cover to cover and really know not only the rules, but they WHY behind the rules. GOOD LUCK!

Today is my first day. I feel cloudy and dizzy a little. I think it may be the sugare withdrawal. Is this correct?

Re: I'm new and need help!

I am the type to get overwhelmed when beginning something new and then I end up quitting. So I decided with Atkins to take it one step at a time - I focused on changing my eating habits and drinking water first, then once I had that pretty much in check, I started walking a little every day, 5 days a week. As I got into the habit of exercising, I extended the length of time I walked, challenging myself. It becomes a sort of game. Set mini-goals. I honestly would make myself jog to just one additional mailbox everyday, and pretty soon I was running a mile! Now I am within 10 pounds of my goal, drink 100 ounces of water (nothing but water!) per day, and crave healthy foods instead of the junk I used to eat. I promise, it WILL become a way of life is you stick it out.

Besides the dizziness and foggy feeling I find myself not really hungry. Only one time did I find myself wanting a candy but I distracted myself with the vacuum and I got over it.
