  • Please Help

    Today is my 9th day on induction. My weight loss came to a halt 4 days ago, so I purchased Ketone strips. The Ketone strips only read trace Ketosis!!!
    Please help. I have not cheated. My induction foods consists of eggs, tuna fish, celery, small tomatoes, olive oil, mozzarella, salads, atkins morning bars and shakes. My foods is limited because I don't eat red meat or poultry. I also drink 8 glasses of water.

    You should cut out the bars and shakes and see if that helps.

      Yep, what Wannabethintoo said!!! Get rid of the "Frankenfoods". Try to do only unprocessed foods. Also, you don't say how much mozzarella. Cheese is a known staller for some people to.

      Are you getting any exercise? It's really essential if you want this to be successful.

      One other thing. 4 days is not a long period of time to wait for lbs to drop. I'm just finishing my 5th week. During two of those I didn't lose anything, but I'm still down over 25 lbs. Be patient and believe in the program. It really does work.

        You are doing almost everything wrong except eating.

        First, stay off the scale please. 4 days is not enough time to see a huge difference. Wait for the full 14 days and then make an analysis.

        Second, Ketosis is like being pregnant, you are either in or not, there are not levels. Btw, ketosis means you are burning fat, whether it is from the food you eat or from your body. So if you are going to use the strips, do it the same time every day. Or you could just follow the other signs.

        Also, stay away from those bars and shakes, they are processed junk in my opinion. Maybe helpful farther up the atkins ladder, but as for now, they are evil!

          since you are not eating red meat and poultry check out our vegetarian FAQ for some protein sources Dr Atkins used with his vegetarian patients.

          since we don't know how much weight you need to lose there is no way to judge if you are doing fine or not. weight loss isn't linear you didn't add it in 14 days and you will not lose it all in 14 days. use your tape measure too so you can watch inches of fat being shed when the scale doesn't validate your hard work.

          Keep eating your chapter 11 acceptable foods, drinking your water doing your exercise and you will be a healtheir smaller you on day 15. Happy low carbing.

            Also watch the tomatoes. Some tomatoes have sugar in them. And yes, stay off those bars and shakes. Save them for a treat about once a week. Are you taken measurments?

              Everyones right of course!!! he he, post your food in the menu forum, let everyone take a look at how much of everything your eat how many meals snacks etc. That helped me a TUN! (if u havent yet) Also do you do fitday, it is my life lol!! It keeps me on track:P (fitday.com) GG626 is right measure!! I stalled a bit (I am a scale addict) and though what could I improve..then I relised I had not exercised for 1/2 the week...he he he he. BAD me. So I started and it started now I lose slower but no gain is what I look forward to...and I watch my messurements every 1-2 weeks, thats where hidden loss is usually held.
              Don't be afraid to post your menus in the forum or ask questions we all need to crawl a bit to learn to walk.

                Pupkaya, you've received some great advise! Post your menus, use fitday, steer clear of the bars and shakes, increase your water, 4 days does not make a stall...

                Post and read the information in the 14 Day Induction forum, you'll see a lot of people in the same phase of Atkins. Many of your questions have been asked and answered there, plus the support is great!

                    Yes the bars and shakes will have to go! Sorry there are other sources of protein low mercury fish is great! Eggs, for omelets if you can eat them?? This diet you really need to be able to eat protein
