    Hello, my name's Leanne. I'm 20 years old, and finally taking control of my life. I've been overweight since I was 10, but in the past couple years it's gotten a lot worse, and my health is declining. Of course I'm interested in looking better, but my main concern is feeling better.

    I switched to Atkins eating habits about a month ago, and although I haven't cheated I was allowing myself all of the "net carb" things. I decided to reseach it more and found that Atkins works a lot better without them. The first day without them I lost four pounds.

    I joined this forum because I want people to talk to about Atkins who aren't going to tell me how bad it is for me, or if I just cut back on calories and exercise more I'll lose weight. Also, I wanted more support.

    I look forward to getting to know some of you better.

    WELCOME Leanne!!! It is so nice to meet you.

    It is alwats so great to read that someone whats to take control of their life, not just lose weight. THAT'S what it's all about. I know you'll be very successful. Great jon giving up those foods, and doing it true Atkins style. It is amazing how your body even hangs on to the weight with those types of foods....?!?

    If you can here for support, you will definately get it! This is the most supportive board that I have ever come across. Their's something here for everyone. If you want tough love, we got it....if you want hugs, we got that too. Their are a bunch of forums to check out, and feel free to read the stickies. They will help TREMENDOUSLY.

    We are all where you're at, or have been. I deal with the whole "low fat/ low calories is the way to diet" attitude everyday. This is a great board and a lot of the people here will help keep you on track.

      You came to the right place ohmakemeover! Everyone here is trying to do the same thing you are, lose weight, become healthier and learn all they can about their bodies metabolisms! And we all put up with the naysayers too....grumble grumble.

      Just you wait until one of them sees your success and starts asking you how to do it exactly...LOL! thats the best part!

        Just stick with it and you will be doing fine! To make the decision to take control of your life is awesome. I let food control my life for so long and now I want revenge.

            hi leanne!

            it's fantastic that you are taking control of your life - way to go!

            this is a very friendly and fast-moving board. just post up any questions you have, someone will know the answer!

            also check out the journal chats - maybe make your own? i just started one myself so i can always look back at where i was and see progress, plus you never know when something you say could help someone else out.
