  • Starting again

Hi everyone! My name is Jamie. I am 24 and live in Texas. This is my second time with Atkins and I'm really looking forward to sticking to it for good this time.

I just gave birth two weeks ago. We had a very complicated pregnancy, knew that most likely our daughter wouldn't survive and then lost her when she was born. I am a total emotional eater and ended up gaining 70 pounds while pregnant. I lost 20 very quickly (water weight and such), but I knew I needed to get some control back. I'm here because I need support. My DH isn't doing it with me (yet) and there is so much crap in our house. I have not been tempted yet, but it is only a matter of time.

I have been on induction since Monday and have lost 5 pounds. Hooray for me!

I'm so sorry about your daughter. I can't even imagine what that must be like.

Good for you for your effort so far. If you need support we're here for you. If you are tempted, come here.

    Good luck.

I'm sorry for your loss. I can't imagine either.

This board is the best for support and encouragement. Even just reading others' stories is very inspirational and a great motivator. Congrats on that 5 pounds. Keep working at it and you'll do it.

I third what they have said...I am so sorry for your loss and will have you and your husband in my prayers. I am so proud of you in being able to pick yourself up, keep going, and ready to get back into proper health and nutrition.
Hang in there and when your husband sees how great you are coming along, maybe he will join in the fun!

              Re: Starting again

I have read the book. I am in the process of re-reading it as of yesterday. The water I am definitely working on.

I have in my mind that you should drink an extra 8 oz (over the 64 oz) for every 25 pounds that you need to lose. I haven't come across that in the book yet. Am I right?

Yes that is correct, you would probably find alot of that info if you read all the stickies in the induction forum. Most of the stickies have really good information in them. Welcome to

I too am sorry for your loss. Just remember you have a little angel always watching over you. You are very strong to start to take back your life from food. My dad passed away in 2002 in a motorcycle accident. I have gained 80 pounds over the years bc of emotional eating. Stay even stronger than you already are. We are always here for you!

                            Re: Starting again

4 years ago I lost my daughter after giving birth. I had a bladder infection that traveled to my uterus and caused me to give birth too early (5 1/2 months). You are very brave, and you will be ok. I know it doesn't allways feel that way, but you will! I am proud of you for being so brave, this is a great first step. Hang in there, you will make it.
What would we do without it?
