  • The Tale of the Yo-Yo-Dieter

I will lose weight I will lose weight I will lose wegiht!

    ... Atleast that's what I tell myself.

Hello I'm joining you Atkineers in your quest to be losers here and now. Today.

I guess to introduce myself I will tell you about my problem.... well... ; ; I love carbs. I admit it. And my love for carbs has lead me out of control into an area I never wanted to venture into.

I have been fat all of my life simply because I'm lazy AND I like to eat. Bad combo, eh? I have always wavered around the range of 180-200... And you know what? I told myself that I was happy as long as I never went over 200.

My Motivation - Well, the lowest I've ever been in my young life is 160. ((Yes, I go that way following the Atkins diet )) And that was during my freshman year where I was actually trying to lose weight for a guy I liked. Whenever I found he didn't feel the same way... I did the most stupid thing I could do. I decided to fall off the wagon.

Knowing my weight range, you know that I'm between 14-16's on pants sizes. Well four months ago I noticed two things happening me.

A.) My size 16s were suddenly too small.
B.) I saw hideous huge stretch marks covering up underneath both of my arms and my lower belly and thighs.

    Then

Since then I have lost almost 30 lbs But I realize that my struggle is far from being over. I am determined to lose this weight, I am determiend to get rid of these stretch marks any way I can ; ; I refuse to buy bigger pants - my goal is to fit into my size 12 pants which I have currently in storage.

My name is Sharon and I am joining all of you now in your endeavor to be healthy and fit and look the best that we can
I will lose weight, I will lose weight, I WILL LOSE WEIGHT!

Sharon, your tale is my tale...I did exactly the same thing, and refuse to gain another pound. I CANNOT eat the way my husband does, or anyone else around me. I must respect my body and myself enough to not look so terrible, and wish I looked like everyone slimmer. It is my decision, and today is the first day of the rest of my healthy eating life. Together we can do it. Go, Sharon! Hugs, Barbara

thanks for the support, and the tips are good. I forgot about the water. I hope I can write every day and get encouraged until I develop my own internal pat on the back.

Re: The Tale of the Yo-Yo-Dieter

It does sneak up on you, doesn't it? Today, I'm dealing with a daughter in California having major hip surgery (I'm 5000 miles away in Holland), a husband who was just diagnosed with Abdominal Aorta Aneurysm, which can burst at any moment (surgery ahead), and supposed to move back to California in June, but can't now due to husband's Aorta problem. Seems strange that as an American citizen, I can't get back to live there, because both of us have to have a clean bill of health for the Visa for him. Do I want to eat? Yes, and not healthy things. So, I'll read the forums and develop another technique to deal with emotions. Ideas, anyone? Thanks for listening, and being there for all of us. YoYo dieter, you can make it, one day at a time. What are your plans for today's meals?
