  • Why Did I Ever Stop?

Well, here I sit on my first day of Atkins....again. The first time I "did" Atkins, I lost 35 pounds...got pregnant...gained it back... The second time, I lost 25 pounds....got lazy...gained most of it back. I have two boys ages 5 and 9. For some silly reason, I think that I should eat like them and that they should eat junk food. While the first is true...the second is not. It is so ironic that I decided this morning to begin Atkins again, because as my sons and I were standing in line at Shoney's to pay for our lunch (I had salad and chicken. ), some guy behind me laughed to his friend and said "Junk in the Trunk." Now...it may be self centered to think that he noticed ME and made that comment about ME. The fact is...he very well may have been talking about me. So, that just verified that today WAS in fact the very day that I should begin another weight loss journey.

I love the Atkins way of eating. It is fantastic. After the first week, I feel like a whole new person...more energy, no hunger, better attitude, etc. I am so eager to make it to this time next week when I will be (probably) 7 pounds lighter and already beginning to feel so much healthier!

I have given myself a small first goal of 150 pounds. I know that I can make it, because the first time I did Atkins, I made it to 152. Some invisible barrier kept me from breaking 150. Oh how I would love to be closer to 100 than 200 lbs. I know I can do it this time! I just need to get to 150 first!

Good luck to all the other newbies. If this is your first time on Atkins, let me tell you that it is the most fantastic "diet" you will ever be on. You may feel lousy this first week, but hang in there. It's just detox. You will be glad you toughed it out. You will be here with me next week singing the praises of Dr. Atkins!

I just wanted to wish you the best Glinda in your weight loss. Having lost in the past puts you a step ahead of the first time losers. (I put no faith in the golden shot theory.) You know what dangers face if you start dabbling off the plan. It isn't just a bogey man story Atkineers tell each other about the slippery slope. I am glad you are here amongst other Atkineer family members, and I am sure you will find the support you need.

:P Omg! The same thing happened with me. Yo-yo-dieting seems to be my misfortune in life. I'm looking to lose 30 lbs more too as well :P

But we can beat it, right? We won't let that yummy doughnut tempt us

Wow! Thanks so much for the warm welcomes! Yes, we CAN do this. Dr. Atkins was a genius and the mainstream medical community is just beginning to understand it. I made it through yesterday and had a 1.8 pound loss! Wow...even that little amount made a big difference in the puffiness of my face. The amazing thing that I found with this "diet" is that I actually get smaller than I would be if I lost the same amount of weight on another diet. I hope that makes sense.... For example, when I lost 35 pounds to put me at 152, I was wearing the same size clothing that I wore when I was younger and weighed 140. I think that just proves that we lose fat and not muscle... It's great!

Well they say the third time is a charm. So consider yourself charmed. You will make it this time. Hang in there, re-read the Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution edition 2002, drink your water, take supplements and exercise. The exercise alone will keep you motivated not to get depressed and quit. And when you see the inches fall off and the weight decline, you'll never want to go back again.

This site is full of information, inspiration and encouragement to help you so that you don't have to make this life-style change alone. Good luck and please post often and keep us informed of your success!!!
