  • Struggling to Maintain - Is it all or nothing?

    From : Boomerbabe

Happy to find this site! Hope I can connect with others like me. I am "doing" Atkins again - probably for the 10th time. I always have great results - losing as much as 50 lbs - FAST - but struggle to maintain the loss. The losing is easy compared with keeping the weight off!!

I exercise - treadmill walker - 16 to 20 miles per week - plus I also work out at Curves. Any maintenance tips out there? I have 15#'s of holiday weight to loose, but once that is gone I need HELP!

Haven't gotten to maintainance yet, but I have heard from others that the best way is to follow the OWL ladder. Check out the Atkins for Life Forum as it is monitored by some of the best goalees. Some of them have said that just staying with this board and helping out others has helped them stay on track. I know that 2big and bikergoddess and Heidi3 have all been at goal for over a year so check out their posts.
Glad you found us and joined. You won't be sorry.

Welcome aboard. Although I'm still in OWL, I think it's very important that you do this woe by the book, meaning it's important to go through all the stages. One of resident guru's (and you'll find we have many!) 2big makes a wonderful analogy comparing the different stages of Atkins to that of building a house. Induction gives us a firm, sound foundation, but you need all of the stages to make a long-standing house. Believe me, she says it way better then that, but that's the idea.
