  • Atkins Virgin

Hello, from a very wet North East England. My name is Stuart and i am new to both internet chat and to Atkins,so here we go.
After reading the book i was unsure, but looking at the excellent information and help on this site, it looks to be the best way forward.
The basis seems to be a life style change.Diet, exercise, general taking control to lose weight, rather than hiding your head in the sand.
So here is my tale of woe. Standing 6ft 4" hides a weight of 271lbs and 33%body fat.A big gain after quiting smoking, but the extra weight and high blood pressure is not good.

Therefore,my start date is the 1st of March 2006,to lose the 70lbs needed, starting the Induction Phase, and joining a gym.( This could get interesting!)
Will continue to read the helpfull posts, and wish everyone else all the best in meeting their dreams. Kindest Regards, Stu

    Re: Atkins Virgin

Welcome to the board Stu, from someone in cold wet south west of England. You sure seem to have done your homework on the Atkins WOL (way of life), and you have certainly made the right decision.

I was like you when I started (2.5 years ago), although not so tall, I was the same weight. You will not regret starting out on Atkins. I want to wish you all the best.

Btw, the gym will get addictive after a while......

    Welcome aboard.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

Welcome Stu. I write from Reading but I was born in Newcastle, raised in York, and educated at Durham University. Is that North East enough?

You we see that I am only a little shorter than you, but have lost 60lb and could do to lose a little more. Welcome to Atkins - it does work.

Why not sign up for the mens forum? It aint too chatty in there, but worth joining.
Rich is Moderator of the men's forum, and he's from the South West - thats OK, I suppose!

      Welcome again.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
      he said, 'Don't count calories.'

Began Atkins March 04 at 260lb, reduced to 203lb by April 07 and maintained.

Atkins makes exercise mandatory - I took up cycling - see last pics at 203lb.

We do have quite good percentage of hit rate success stories, us brits.

Take a look at the other british mod - Ellizien, she has lost 10 stone (we can talk in stones here there arent any americans in this thread yet)

Between me, ellizien and Brian (labarum), I think we have lost close to 20 stone!

fancy being a part of that club, Stu?
