    Hi All

My husband and I are 3 weeks into our effort to regain control of our weight and appetite. We have 2 small children, 5 and 3 who love to test our will-power by offering us tastes of their food - the banned stuff! We both have managed to stick to the diet without cheating. Yesterday was our daughter's birthday party, and we didn't even have a sample of a piece of cake! Today is her actual birthday, and we are considering having a slice of her second cake, and I am very tempted to eat the fresh pineapple and fruit dip that were left-over from the party! I am really worried about it though, so I probably will not go through with it. I am very pleased with the results so far. I don't have a total amount of weight lost as we have not stepped on the scale, but judging how my clothes are fitting (or not fitting) I would say I've lost about 10 pounds. My husband has probably lost a bit more, because his face looks thinner and his belly doesn't stick out so much. It's not a difficult diet - I really expected it would be.

Hubby started out at 210 - goal of 180
    My starting weight 160 - goal 115

I'm very happy I found this site, it has so much helpful information! This is the site that helped me find FITDAY, which is incredibly useful.

    Re: Canadian couple - new

Welcome to you and your hubby!!! My DH and I are also doing this together! It is such a great thing to have someone that is there with you.

Your goals seem VERY obtainable!!! If you don't mind me asking..how tall are you? I am 5'2 and I was considering 115 for a goal, too! LOL.

Great Job with not cheating and not eating any cake. It's VERY hard, but it can be done. You are so strong!!! I have my son's b-day coming up, so I'll be making some legal treats to have! LOL. I don't think that I am strong enough to look cake in the face and say no..not without an alternative!!

Happy Birthday to your DD too!!!!

Once again, welcome! I hope you like it here!
*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*

    **About me:**
    23/F/5'3"
    Start date: 7/14/2009
Lost a total of: 15.75 inches!!

Hi and welcome! Back away from the cake, it's poison! Part of this woe (way of eating) is learning about our bodies and gaining control over what we put into them. You can do this and we're here to help.

Welcome to ADBB! You are lucky that DH is doing it with you, mine says he could never do it. Give up snacks and beer??? I think he would need therapy!
Good for you on your success so far, let us know if there is anything we can do to help.
What would we do without it?

          Re: Canadian couple - new

Thanks for your replies all! I am determined to reach my goal by our anniversary (mid April) or at least come close to it. I am 5ft 5inches tall, and before I had my first child I weighed 110 for years. When I reached 161 a couple of months ago, I was in shock - that is how much I weighed when I was 8 months pregnant with my son! I was feeling very tired and old. I was beginning to eat uncontrollably. What a terrible feeling to lose control of your appetite, it was like a sickness. After a couple of days of Atkins, I felt so much better - able to concentrate more, no cravings for sugary treats, it was amazing what a few days did for me. I am very happy I found this forum, and the support it brings me (us).

I think I miss the fruit more than the cake...I have a fresh platter of strawberries and pineapple with my name on it in my fridge...Better get the kids eating it!
