  • New On Atkins

I just turned 43 last week. I have finally made the decision to commit to myself and lose this weight that I have hated carrying around. In my 20's and early 30's I never gained weight. I had my first 2 children without having any weight gain after the birth. I had my 3 child when I was 30, then miscarried, and I have been overweight since then. I was diagnosed with depression and bi-polar disorder about 3 years ago and finally feel like I am getting my life back.

I started induction today and I am going to start working out on Monday (I already joined). I heard that you feel pretty bad (weak) and have headaches the first couple of days, so I figured I would give myself a couple of days.

I have set a goal to lose 30lbs by May 28th, my wedding anniversary.

          Re: New On Atkins

Welcome Robin! You've found the perfect place for all the support, information and inspiration you'll ever need. If you run into difficulties there's always someone who's been through something similar and understands...

Sounds like you're off to a good start. Induction 'flu' can last several days, depending on how much you need to detox, but when it passes you feel just great.

The following are obvious, but really important:

Water.... plenty of it every day
Exercise.... as much as you feel up to doing
DANDR (Dr. A's book) - 2002 edition (this board follows that one)
          Keeping carbs down

Look forward to following your losses and seeing you around the board! This way of eating really works!
