I found this forum thru a members link on her website, I have to say I think this site is the friendliest I have been too as far as this WOE.
My real name is Kris and I am mother to 3. I homeschool my K and 7th grader, my 10th grader goes to school.
I am not new to low carbing, just decided to renew my resolve. Last year I successfully lost 35 pounds controlling my intake of carbs, I really didn't follow Atkins by the book though and if I did I am sure I would have seen better success.
My motivation last year was 100% external, ,my dh was in Iraq and I wanted to look good for his return, as I said if I had follwed Atkins by the book I would have been able to see my goal by the time he returned, but I was forever on/off my eating and only got rid of 35 instead of all 95. He came back safe and sound at Christmas and the whole family celebrated. Between all the oppotunities to eat and getting used to having him around again, I fell into old habits and gained 17 pounds back between Christmas and today.
I started last year at my highest ever recorded weight of 245, got down to 210 for hubby's return and was finally starting to see a smaller tummy and some smaller thighs, well now my tummy has poofed out again and I don't even look at my thighs....
It's time to get back to it.
So today I prepare for day one of a clean induction tomorrow. I'm cutting up celery, pre cooking a breakfast quiche and dusting off the treadmill. I was on my way before so I know I can do it, I also know where the bumps in the road are and I need to brace myself for the ride. If I have the 'illegal' foods in the house I will eat them, if I don't plan my exercise I won't get it in, very simple, but oh so hard to manage.
My kids are enjoying their last pancake breakfast this am and my family will enjoy their last spaghetti supper tonight-at least until I get control over my cravings again. If last time is any indication I will be able to eat my own dinner while they eat their favorites once I get to exercising again and get thru about 2 weeks of clean eating. They won't suffer for long and the pay off is having a mom who is more energetic and less achey and grumpy.
I look forward to hanging out here everyday as I enjoy some 'me time'. I'll make my home intially in the Induction 14 day forum.
