  • stalling????

Hi, New to the forum. Started Atkins 10/12/05 243.2lbs 5'5 female age 39.Have stayed on extended induction since then.Today I am 201lbs.I have not lost anything since 2/26/05.The whole time I have been strict 20 out of 21 meals a week(sat night out to eat)I have kept my carbs around 16-18 a day.[NOT on sat] I have lost 3,4,5,6 lbs a week gained 1 or 2 back from eating out then repeat cycle the whole time.

Breakfast-2 eggs scrambled in pat of butter,2 strips regular bacon, 6oz pepsi one
1 centrum multivitamin and the start of 100oz of water for the day. (2carbs total meal)

Lunch-1oz cheddar cheese,10 slices pepperoni,1 cup salad and more than enough creamy ceasar dressing(kens dressing 0 carbs) to cover the salad,6oz pepsi one. (4 cabs total meal)

Dinner-Meat varies;2 hot dogs or chicken breast or 1 pork chop or steak (size of deck of cards) or cheese burger or 7 or 8 slices of londenbroil, 1cup of salad and more than enough creamy ceasars dressing(kens dressing 0 carbs)to cover the salad,6oz pepsi one. (max 5 carbs total meal)

Snacks (1) 8oz cup of tea with 1 packet sweet and low and a some 2% milk and some mixed nuts I count them out. (5-6 carbs total)

I have been walking either outside or on the treadmill for 20 minutes a day 4 or 5 times a week for the last month.

This has been it since day one nothing new.

So the question is am I stalling just like that out of no where? Thanks

    Re: stalling????

Hi and welcome. A couple of things that come to me is that you weren't following the rules of induction. Going by what you posted, I only see two cups of veggies and not three. There is no milk allowed on induction. There are no nuts allowed on induction. Are you drinking your water? It's awesome that you're exercising! Dr. Atkins describes a stall as four weeks without a weight loss OR loss in inches. Have you checked your measurements? There are some great stickies that you may want to read as well. There is one entitled "weight loss is not linear" that's worth taking a gander at. So, I don't think you're stalled. You may want to re-read your DANDR and maybe tweak what you're eating a bit. Look at the OWL chapters again. Maybe you're one of those people that can't tolerate nuts for example. Welcome aboard!

Thanks Isabeau, for the welcome, I agree about the milk, nuts and veggies none on induction but I have been doing it since day one. So now it is a problem? I drink 100 oz of water a day. I have never measured myself just taking my weight but I have gone down a few sizes.Any other help. Thanks

So, keep doing what you're doing! Take your measurements and see how things go over the next month. If you're not using it already, fitday.com is a great tool to help you keep track. Oh, eat your veggies!!!! *winks*

          Re: stalling????

Do you eat Atkins friendly meals when you eat out? If not, that could be slowing you down. I think if you added more veggies, and tried Fitday you will see some improvement. Maybe you should go on to OWL since you aren't really doing Induction anyway. You have moved up to the nuts rung, but kept your veggies and carbs too low. This is just an idea, since this board is by the book. Do you have the 2002 Edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution?
Oh, and zero carbs doesn't always mean zero carbs, like in your dressing. You may be getting more carbs there than you think. If something has .6 carbs per serving, they can say no carbs (and sometimes the serving are very small). If you dressing really had .6 carbs per serving, and you were having 3 or 4 servings at a time, its really 2.4 carbs not zero. I didn't know that before I found ADBB!
Anyway, welcome to ADBB, and please keep us posted on how you are doing!
What would we do without it?

First Welcome to ADBB this is wonderful site with great support and we are glad to see u here!

Everyone has made some great point.
So I am just going to reiterate them.

First are you doing Atkins we practice the Atkins Diet from The Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition.
            Second Water Water Water
Everything has carbs, thats my rule I just double the serving size and count it as a carb
Do you use a tracking website Fitday.com is awesome
There are lots of stickies to read in the induction forum
pepsi counts as one carb and stalls lots of us.
If you eat supplements bars, shakes sugar free candy theese can stall u out.
Try not to eat frankenfoods such as sausage, hotdogs, bolongna, deli meats, peperoni, ect............
Bacon is high in calories there may be a better way. Dr Atkins said don't count calories, not calories don't count, they do.(lots of bacons have sugar careful)
Somrtimes moving up to on-going weight loss helps many people to resume weight loss.
I have done reinduction you may have let the carb creep begin we all do it.
It is where we more of things than we should.
I am sure there will be people along shortly to add anything I have left out.

Oh and using heavy cream insted of milk is recommended, milk is not allowed on Atkins.

              Re: stalling????

Your stall could be being caused by the bacon.

When fat molecules shrink they retain water for a few days as per the norm so the nitrates in bacon can cause some people to retain that water for a far longer period.

Try cutting out bacon and see what happens..
