  • Introducing myself

    Hello everyone!

I am not new to atkins, In fact I started again on 1/23/06 and lost 12 lbs. during induction. Unfortunately I fell off the wagon on 2/28 I had to go to the city with my H due to surgery. We stayed away from home for 5 days. I stayed off atkins all that time. I weighed myself and gained back 6lbs. I feel awful about it but what can I do? All I can do start anew right? I have been reading all the post here and have to say that with this support I can only succeed.

A little about myself : I am married 27 years and have 3 kids the two at home are 9yo daughter and 15 yo son and a married 33 y o son. I am 51 years old and have battled my weight problem since my first child.

In 04 I lost over 60lbs. and was doing great, but by the end of summer in 05 I started my old eating habits. Forget the holidays and me baking that finally did me in..

I can't believe I gained it all back, but I will not give up. I'm tired of struggling walking up stairs and everyday things because of fat Not to mention I have Rheumatoid Arthritis that causes me all sorts of problems. So here I am ready to start again.

One thing I will say I have truly read some of the warmest post from the Atkins dieters. I love you guys. Love and Hugs Pru

WELCOME. We are thrilled to have you join us. You will make it this time. Sounds like you have the right attitude and you also have us here to support you along the way. This site has been a life-saver for me!! I also have arthritis. I have it in both knees...and although it doesn't hurt as much since I've lost weight, it is still a big issue with me. But...as long as I can walk I am continueing on plan and not letting that stop me.

      Best wishes!!!!

                Re: Introducing myself

Congrats on starting again.I too lost 80lbs and managed to put almost 50lbs of it back on.Its very upsetting.I couldnt fit in any of my clothes.....so here I am doing the same thing.Jumping back on the wagon and learning from my mistakes.I wont gain this back again ever.I will track myself and whenever 10lbs comes back on, its switch into induction again. Its a lifestyle I am basically gonna have to live with for the rest of my life. The other way hasnt worked for me and lifes too short to spend it worrying about how our "buts" look in a pair of jeans

                    Re: Introducing myself

Welcome! I was so much like you, I did great on Atkins about 3 years ago, but I didn't get it through my head that it is a WAY OF LIFE, not a diet, not a temporary fix, not something to fall back on when I need to lose a few pounds, and then ignore it when I feel like it. I HOPE I've gotten it through my head this time around! We're all rooting for you and you won't find a better bunch of people anywhere!
Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.

I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

                    The reason I quit...
