    Just wanted to post and let everyone know that Atkins works...if we work it. This is day 4 for me and yesterday I was looking for an alternative way to lose my excess weight because I was not impressed with my weight loss nor the sluggish way I was feeling. But I woke up today feeling better than I have in a long time and in addition to that... when I got on the scales I had a 5 lb weight loss. I'm not going no where. Question? Can someone share with me about proper salt and calorie intake and if it necessary to watch these things? Thanks everybody, your posts are helping me with my weight loss journey...BE ENCOURAGED!!!

    I would not worry about your Caloric intake especially during Induction. There is certainly enough time to address it later if and when it becomes an issue. During Induction, just focus on what the plan says to eat and the correct amounts, and you should be fine. As for sodium, as long as you don't go over board and go over the daily limit you should be fine. Water retention can be an issue if you do, which can of course delay your weight loss. Just keep drinking your water, and it should be less of an issue.

      OMG don't mention calorie counting on this board. LOL, it seems to be a hotly debated topic.
      I understand your concern about sodium intake though . At this point I wouldn't worry about counting either, just follow the plan and see what happens. If at some point you start to retain water you might want to use fitday and see what your sodium levels are and reduce them.
      Thats the beauty of Atkins, all we count are carbs and if you follow the acceptable food list, I don't think you can get over 20 carbs.

              Hi and welcome! Just follow the rules of induction (or whatever level of Atkins you're on!), drink your water, take your supplements and exercise and you will be successful. Glad to have you here.
