  • newbie sayin hey!

Hey everyone! My name is Rosie and this is my 3rd time doing atkins. Every attempt really hasn't lasted long. The first time, it was right before I went to Australia to study abroad so I didn't keep it up since traveling for 3 consecutive weeks with a group of people and all of that made it too hard. I lost 8 lbs that time, then gained it all back. I also did it when my parents came to travel with me at the end of the semester, but I think I ate too many bars since often it was hard to find anything else to replace a meal since we would stay with other people, so when i got home and found after 2 weeks I hadn't really lost much (though I didn't know my exact starting weight) I gave up. This time I am starting again. This is day 12 for me but I've only lost 2 lbs, which is a little disheartening. I Think I may have lost more but then gained a bit back with the past couple days eating too many bars (I was on spring break and didn't have a scale the whole time, so I don't know what I weighed before 2 days ago). When I saw so little weight lost I wanted to give up and just go back to maybe a WW plan or something like that where I lost weight much faster, but I decided maybe it was just from the past 2 days and that my weight would go down once all the frankenfoods were out of my system. So I am remaining strong, though I had hoped to be at a much lower weight at this time. Any suggestions from anyone on if I should continue to count this as day 12 or restart at day 1, since I will not be eating any more frankenfoods (or at least a lot less of them)? Anyway, I happened upon this site and it looked really interesting. I have been really inspired by the amount of weight people have lost and figured I could get some good advice on the program again since it's been awhile since I read the book all the way through, though I have refreshed myself on induction. I want to lose more weight because I have my big a cappella concert coming up in 2 weeks and would like for people that saw me over break to notice a loss. I also have a big dance team performance in a month that i would like to look skinny for and graduation pictures I want to look nice for as well. I also want to take pictures for a portfolio for singing. So much inspiration!! Today I weighed in at 125.2 and I would like to be 115, though I would be very happy at 117 (what i weighed before getting mono a year and a half ago and what caused me to gain the weight). So wow, I've rambled long enough! If anyone has any suggestions for me or just want to say hey feel free!!

Here's a perspective changer. With only 12 pounds to lose in the beginning, you already have lost 16.7% of your goal. That is a very good start. For me to have lost that amount I would have had to lose over 32 pounds in those same 12 days. Remember this is not a crash diet to fix yourself by a certain date, but a way to relearn how to eat for the rest of your life. This does not equal Induction for the rest of your life, but it does mean your dependence on carbs will be broken, and your energy will be that much higher. I'd recommend that you keep going with where you are at, finish Induction back into ketosis, and then start progressing OWL rungs soon. You should have very effective loss with that philospohy.

Hi and welcome. I agree, don't get discouraged as you have less to lose then many. Ditch those bars as they stall lots of people. Here's to your success.
