  • Obligatory Introduction

Hi. I'm 22. I've been a little heavy for most of my life, but not just huge. Maybe a 16/18 in jeans for the last few years. I lost a lot of weight doing an activity called drum corps in the summer of '04, and was down to around 175- 180. Then I got back, and gained ~65 lbs in 10 months! That's what happens when you never exercise, and ONLY eat pizza, McDonalds, and popcorn every day! Ugh. I felt like crap. I lost a little this past summer, then gained it all back in a few months...

I'm so tired of being a yo-yo! I want to feel healthy enjoy my youth and be able to shop in stoes that aren't Lane Bryant. I've developed reactive hypoglycemia, asthma, and acne. And I'm only 22. My Dad's has been a big supporter of Atkins of decades, and I finally agreed to try a carb-less diet on Christmas.

I started on Jan.1 and lost ~25 lbs in January and February. I didn't really do the "real" Atkins diet... I just stopped eating starch/sugar most of the time, and I also cut down on fat. And I exercised a lot. I've never really made much of an effort to get healthy, and I'm honestly kind of enjoying it.

But this month I figured out how many fries and shakes I can have in a week to maintain my weight... which is good to know. Only, this whole month I've been allowing myself that. So I've lost no weight so far in March.

I still have 40 lbs to go, and I have to get rid of it before a month-long trip to study in Europe this summer. I need a kick in the ***!

I thought I could find some good ideas for exercise and diet here. So, here I am!

    Re: Obligatory Introduction

WELCOME! The #1 piece of advice you will get here is to read the 2002 edition of the Atkins book. It is the only way to break the up and down yoyo cycle. Stick with that and I feel sure you will melt away!
