  • Hello we are new here!

Hello all, I just wanted to introduce us. Me and my husband are new to Atkins and I am eager to see the results. In the past we have done weight watchers with some success, but my husband was always left feeling hungry. We have been married for close to seven years. We are only on induction day one, but I already see the bread that I have in the house for our children tempting me. I just have been taking a sip of water every time I really feel like I want the bread.

I am 4'11" tall and am weighing about 175 right now I would like to lose 50 pounds. My husband is 6'2" and needs to lose about 150 pounds. I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Hi We Wanna Be Losers and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!

First, do you have a copy of Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution? If not, until you're able to pick up a copy, make sure and read the FAQ's and stickies throughout the board...there's a lot of great information!

You'll love the support! Hope to see you (both) around the board!

Welcome to the board!! You have come to the right place! My husband and I started Jan 3rd of this year. I have a 5 month old baby, and an 11 year old daughter. I know what you mean by being tempted by breads because I keep it in the house for my oldest. However, it really does get easier as you go along. Just stick with the plan, and you will have great results in no time! It is nice to see weight being lost because it really motivates you to keep going. My husband inspires me the most. I was 176lbs in October, had baby, then got down to 140lb by January. She weighed 8lbs 13oz when she was born, so between her and everything else..I was 153lbs the day after I had her LOL!! I became friendly with the nurse staff, and they let me weigh myself just to see. I have been losing at a snail pace...about 3/4 - 1 lb a week. My husband was almost 300lbs..and he has lost 34lbs as of yesterday When you see results like that, the bread doesn't even call your name anymore. You guys can do it!!!
        I did it!!

Re: Hello we are new here!

My DH joined me in doing Atkins after I lost about 40 pounds. He easily lost about 75 pounds and has kept it off for almost two years. Having him eat the same way as me has made it so much easier. We have adopted this as a life-time WOE and wouldn't dream of going back to our old ways!

We also have two daughters and that has never been an obstacle. We focus on the great foods we CAN eat and ignore the rest. I even have been keeping small pieces of chocolate in my bedside table drawer to give DD17 when she occasionally wants some. I could never have done that before Atkins. I ate pounds and pounds of chocolate before! You really can leave the old foods behind!

Be sure and try new recipes. That has contributed to our success. Here's a wonderful site for Linda Sue's recipes: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/recipes.html. There are threads around here where people have listed some of their favorite recipes of Linda Sue's. Personally, we really like Coney Island Chili Dog Pie, Italian Casserole, Taco Bake, Just Like Stuffed Potatoes, and one of the Mexican Casseroles. Yummy!

          Good luck to you both!

4'11" and 6'2", that is quite a difference. If he was a little taller you could go on Maury Povich for a opposites attract segment.

                  Good luck to you both.
