  • Hi!

Hello all, thought i would say hi and to get some advice. Im a 6 foot 3 male weighing 280lbs, im looking to get to about 200 for a good goal and then continue from there. I have just left college so i have decided not to get a job yet until i lose some weight as it will make me feel alot better, at the moment im basically having 1 meal a day and only drinking water with quite a bit of exercise and im losing hardly any weight so ive decided to try this diet. As i have as long as i want in terms of time off i am totally dedicated to this and i would also like to know if i stuck to it very strictly how long could it be before i lose my desired weight.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Re: Hi!

Hi Steve and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!

That's nice that you can take time in between school and starting a career! First, you need to get the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002 version) and read, read, read! You will definitely need to change your "one meal a day" habit...the exercise and drinking lot's of water is great though!

No one can predict how quickly you'll lose the weight, but you'll have the best results by sticking with the 14 Day Induction, and then start moving up the the OWL (ongoing weightloss) ladder. Some use a rule of thumb for Induction weight loss though, approximately 5-10% of the amount you need to lose. But again, those results vary widely!

Glad you found the board, and hope to see you around!

      Re: Hi!

Thanks for the welcome, i have got the book and will read it soon. I have tried other diets and lost a fair bit of weight in a short time but its only ever temporary and i hope this can be a good permanent diet and judging by other bigger people on this forum and there weight loss i hope mine can go as quick. The main reason i have decided to do this is after my cousin lost more than 100lbs in 4 months and he was about my size now so i hope i can lose weight just as well

        Re: Hi!

Welcome Stevey! Welcome to a fantastic Way of Eating! One of the first things you MUST do is read the book - second thing is eat more than once a day! Dr. Atkins taught that you should not go more than 6 waking hours without eating, even if it's just a snack, like a stick of celery or a slice of cheese. That way, you won't be starving and then be tempted to grab high carb food.

I wish you loads of luck - you will find this board to be fantastically helpful and supportive!

        Welcome aboard!
