  • Hi everyone :-)

    Hi...just wanted to introduce myself

    Been on the Atkins diet for little more than a week now, and lost some weight. I was 182 pounds before, then watched what I was eating and dropped to 176. Then I started Atkins...so far I am down to 170 and still working on it!

    I was on Atkins before and dropped to 125 pounds, but I think I was doing it the wrong way....all meat and no trace of carbs. It caused me health issues so I stopped. I've re-read the books and am hoping the inclusion of the allowed amount of vegetables will make this experience different.

    Question...is it normal to experience some hunger in the beginning? I notice being really hungry mid morning and mid afternoon. This morning I had bacon and eggs. I remember previously, I was never hungry! What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers to everyone

    Lisa

    Re: Hi everyone

    Are you eating low carb bars, shakes, and candy? If so, please stop! They are bad for you and cause slow weight loss and cravings.
    If that isn't the problem, are you drinking your water and taking your vitamins?
    Can you post a days menu so we can see what you are doing?
    Glad you read the book and found ADBB!! Keep us posted!!
    What would we do without it?

      Re: Hi everyone

      Not eating any low carb bars, shakes etc. Although I was bad yesterday...got really hungry and had a yogurt power bar...40 grams of carbs.

      Here is my typical meal plan (last week +)
      =======
      breakfast: 2-3 eggs, 2-3 strips bacon

      lunch: sliced steak (I'd say about 3/4 to 1 cup) and 1 can of green beans

      Dinner: salmon or beef, maybe some bacon (I love bacon LOL)
      =======

      Maybe I should add cheddar cheese for snacks? I try to make lunch my biggest meal (not dinner). Taking my vitamins and should probably drink more water.

      Any suggestions??

        Re: Hi everyone

        Where are your vegetables?! 1 can of green beans isn't nearly enough. You need TWO CUPS of salad vegetables and then 1 cup of additional vegetables, or three whole cups of salad. If you wanted, you can add up to 3 ounces of cheese daily as well.

        If you're hungry, than eat (I think I should learn this in a variety of different languages, lol). Have more bacon at breakfast, or hardboiled eggs, vegetables dipped in ranch dressing. EAT. Make sure you're drinking allllll your water and eat until you are no longer hungry. And I especially hope you are eating every 6 hours to keep your bloodsugar stabalized.

          Listen to Ms. Killerbombshell!!! Eat, eat, eat!! When I went on Induction, I ate something every 2 hours - 3 regular meals, plus loads of snacks. Snacks could be celery with cream cheese, a slice of meat, a slice of cheese (limit cheese to 3 oz a day - it can stall you), veggies with dressing (yummy) . . . If your body is asking for food, give it something good! And drink water -- all the time -- all day -- it's good for you!

          Also, to repeat what others have said, you need to be eating more veggies! You can split it up - 1 cup salad veggies for lunch, another for dinner, 1 cup veggies split up over the day for snacks - whatever suits your fancy!

          Welcome aboard and I wish you luck!!!

          Big love,

                Welcome Lisa, Induction is awesome and here is a suggestion to toss in some extra veggies for you.
                I shop and grab as many different fresh veggies as I can. Then come home and cut them all up into small pieces and store them in the fridge. This way I can just grab them and toss about 1/2 cup in my eggs at breakfast, eat 1/2 with my lunch in a salad or with other ways then about a cup of mixed veggies with my dinner. My family loves how I have started adding fresh veggies with our broiled meats, it really makes dinner look and taste nice. Good luck and keep it up!

                  Thank you Pladd I think I may try omelettes in place of fried/boiled eggs as well, since that might be a way to get some of my veggies in like you mentioned. I have a bag of onions/green peppers in the freezer which would be ideal for that. I should also start measuring my carbs (in cups)...will help me keep track of things better.

                    Regarding dressing, LOOK AT THE LABEL!!! Some of those companies are really sneaky about putting sugar in their dressings. I personally use Kraft Carb Options Ranch Dressing. Quite tasty!
