  • New with a question or two

    Hi everyone,

    I just joined this forum because I am thinking of going on the Atikins diet, again. I've tried this diet about 5 different times over the past few years but always find myself going off of it after a couple of weeks. Problem is, I find that it makes my tummy gurgle and sometimes the food goes right through me. Is something that is normal for the first couple of weeks? It's usually the right side of my stomach that gurgles after I eat. Also, I used to drink about 6 Diet Rites a day, could this maybe be what the culprit was? I love the Atkins WOL and really want to go back on it again, but I can't handle the tummy upsets that come along with it. If anyone could give me any info. on why this might be happening, I'd be very grateful. Typical day of food follows:

    Bacon (turkey or regular)
    Deviled eggs as a snack
    1 OZ. cheese cubes
    1 Pork Steak
    3 Cups salad
    Carb Options ranch dressing
    6 Diet Rites (I have since quit drinking this and switched to only water)

    The low carb products can do that to you, have a full fat dressing instead it will keep you more satisfied threw out the day as well.

    Also if you are hungry eat some chiken or a small steak things that are excepatable don't over do it but eat if you are hungry.


    I do not recommend that dressing, would'nt you much rather have some ranch or Italian dressing with a full flavor. Yum good for getting enough fat as well.


    Water Water Water Everyone else will tell you no soda but I find I can handle to a day and still lose and not have bad effects.

        That does not look like enough food. Diet rite could have been the problem Also I would put a days worth of Food into www.fitday.com and see what your % of fat-prot.-carb was

          Hi and welcome. You've been given some good advice and you've already ditched the diet soda, good for you. You may also want to mix up your veggies. The two veggie lists for induction contain a lot of variety. The 'other acceptable veggie list' which we can have one cup per day from has veggies that are little higher on the glycemic index and have a little more fibre then the 'salad' list. Try incorporating some of those into your diet and see how you fair. I was like you (and unlike most who seem to go the other way when starting Atkins) and found that things ummm....firmed up...after about a week. Glad to have you with us.
