My mom lost over 60 pounds on this diet, so I thought I'd give it a shot. Does anyone have any advice for a sugar adict? I want to lose at least 80 pounds.

Re: This is my first day
Welcome!!!
Do you have a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (DANDR)? If not, get it asap, it tells you everything you need to know.
My words of advice are: 1.)
take your vitamins, and L-glutamine to control your cravings.
2.)Drink at least 64 oz of water a day, and an additional 8 oz for every 25 lbs you wanna lose.
3.) I personally would try to stay away from artificial sweeteners during the first 2 weeks. I know you are allowed, but believe me, one ex sugar addict to another, they will on;y contribute to your cravings. You can have them later if you like, but the 1st two weeks you shouls really try to kill those cravings and break those bad habits. I actually appreciate my occasional Splenda now! LOL
I hope this helps. If you need anything, PM me. Good luck and once again, welcome!*Dieting makes you look good with your clothes on...exercise make you look good with them off.*

Hi Jayme and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!
That's great about your mom's success on Atkins! You're going to love it too!
I totally agree with jsj's tips...post often and get information and support ADBB has to offer, follow the book and all of the rules and you'll do great!
Glad you found the board and hope to see you around!Shelly

Re: This is my first day
Hi and welcome! The best advice to beat the sugar monster is to do a squeaky clean induction. If you're sweet tooth is bad, I would totally recommend not even eating the three servings of artificial sweetener for your two week induction period. That will rid you of it! Glad to have you with us.
