  • Here goes...

Hi everyone! Another longtime lurker, here - finally summoning the courage to speak up and say 'hey'. When I started this most recent chapter of my weight loss adventure, I could not have hoped to encounter a friendlier and more supportive bunch of people. So, as the title says... here goes.

STATS... Started Atkins (again ) on February 14th, 2006 - after more than ten years of on-again, off-again success. By the way, I'm female, 30 and 5'4" (AND a half...).

I finally weighed in on February 25th - at a whopping 178lbs (WHAT?!). My most recent weigh-in was on March 19th had me at 174lbs, but down two inches.. (I'm one of those "takes forever to see results" dieters). I generally stay away from the scales for at least a week between weigh-ins, preferring to track my progress by how I feel and how my clothes fit (looks like I'll be ready for that birthday shopping spree in late April, as planned).

Just one more note before I close - I mentioned courage at the beginning of this post. This is something I find here each and every time I "stop by". You have no idea what that does for my outlook and commitment to making Atkins my ongoing way of life. For the first time, I have even started climbing "the ladder" (I've always induction-ed my way through, felt deprived, and gave up within 3-4 months), and am happily chomping my way through "veggies" at the moment. I have set a goal weight of 143 - and sincerely believe I will acheive and maintain this, with my new support network in place.

Thanks for the motivation! Keep up all the good work!
    S.

                        Welcome to the boards!

They are so helpful here. Did you take your measurements too? I am a slave to the scale, but don't really put a lot of stock into them. I just jump on, see where I am, then measure....It is a much more accurate way!

I'm like you where it takes awhile to see a change (down 16 lbs with small body changes) Just stick it out. Sounds like you are doing great already!

                            Re: Here goes...

My warmest thanks for the words of welcome and advice.

Sunflowergrl, we do seem to have begun this journey from similar circumstances. I will be following your progress to see how you're holding up. I'm generally able to check in every couple of days (work schedule, mom schedule - you know the drill...), but if I can ever offer any encouragement, feel free to give me a holler.

IWILLloseweight & Below30, I agree that the measurements have been a real lifesaver, especailly when the scale wasn't offering much encouragement. I still haven't weighed myself since a couple of weeks back, nor measured come to think of it, but I am feeling excellent. I am into clothes again that were obscenely tight without any undue sweating, cursing, stretching or grunting - so pride-wise, things are definitely looking up!

I haven't yet set a mini-goal, so I think I'll make it for 163lbs... 20 lbs from goal. For reward, I guess a scale would be a good purchase. Have a terrific weekend, everyone!!!

                            S.
