  • New here.

Hi everyone. I don't know how everything works yet but I thought I would just jump in! I am a 55, 172lbs, 5'2". Size, (cringing), 18. I have read the book, and started, but stumbled. Made my daughter some fudge yesterday and ate some. I am going out tomorrow and buy a lowcarb cookbook to look for some dessert recipes. Aspie

welcome aspie! it's good you have the book. I'd like to also mention we have a wonderfull selection of recipes on this board as well. Sometimes those low carb cookbooks can be deceiving, more carbs than you can have on induction. Good luck to you and come visit us often!

      Re: New here.

There are lots of recipes out there but be careful and always read ingredients

Oh, and the only dessert I know of that is allowed on induction is sugar free jello made with splenda and only in a very small amount. Otherwise you will be dissappointed in your results because most of the sugar free stuff will still stall you. Induction (the first two weeks) is meant to be a clean break from your cravings for sweets.

            Re: New here.

Sorry for being gone so long. We have but one computer and dh has been on it allmost 24/7 trying to start a business. Also he has been busy squashing my efforts to stay on this diet. Like last night my daughter came down and handed me a king size Coke and said dad had bought her one when they went out so bought one for me too. I thought maybe it was diet, but no. So I snuck over and poured it down the drain! I think this is the only way to fight this. I think I am really on my way now. Thank you for all the kind welcomes, Isabeau, Dreamof 145, Rockin and Sombersusie. It is wonderfull to be here to read the all the upbeat success stories! Aspie 172/172/110

If your husband feels threatened by your weight loss or you suspect he wants you to fail, you don't have to approach weight loss from a vanity standpoint. It's more about good health and being there for your family for a very long time. I think that most spouses would find it hard to argue with getting healthy.

Hi Irish. I'm going to give some thought to being vein. But I know I'm doing it for my daughter too. (She's 12). I'm 56. So I have that incentive. And then the food! I absolutly love the food! Sending happy wishes your way. Aspie1

                  Welcome Aspie!

Check out this website, http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/, for some excellent recipes. My favorite dessert recipe is for Panna Cotta, an Italian sweet cream. Here's the recipe:

ITALIAN ALMOND CREAM or PANNA COTTA
1 envelope unflavored gelatin (Knox recommended)
                  2 cups heavy cream
1/3 cup granulated Splenda or equivalent liquid Splenda
1/2 teaspoon almond extract or 1 teaspoon vanilla

Spray six 6-ounce custard dishes with non-stick spray. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over 3 tablespoons cold water; let stand 5 minutes to soften. Bring cream, 1/2 cup water, Splenda and extract to a boil on medium heat (I used the microwave on HIGH for about 6 minutes or so, watching closely). Remove from heat; add gelatin mixture; stir until gelatin is completely melted. Pour into custard cups (I strained it to make sure there were no lumps of gelatin). Cover surface with plastic wrap, to prevent skin from forming, if desired. Chill at least 3 hours.

                  Makes 6 servings

                  With granular Splenda:
Per Serving: 285 Calories; 29g Fat; 3g Protein; 4g Carbohydrate; 0g Dietary Fiber; 4g Net Carbs

                  With liquid Splenda:
Per serving: 280 Calories; 29g Fat; 3g Protein; 2g Carbohydrate; 0g Dietary Fiber; 2g Net Carbs

Linda's site has quite a few Induction friendly desserts.
