Well, the first thing you should do is get the book (Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution), and read the stickys. Ask questions and listen with an open mind.

Welcome! Welcome! Yes, the first thing you should do is get the book and read it. Read the whole thing so you understand how it all works. It's much easier to follow when you understand the whole thing. I'm very excited for you! You will lose weight, be healthy and make new friends too.

Melissa Frye I am not sure if that is the name that she goes by...

I just got the Dr Atkins book..

Does that have the 14 day plan in it or is there somewhere that I can see that so I can get started...
I have already had about 20 ozs of water this am about to get up and get another 20

Re: Hello all I am new to ADBB

Yes, the book spells out everything. It isn't actually a 14 day plan. It's a lifetime plan and has 4 phases - Induction (the first 14 days where you detox your body and turn it into a fat burning machine), Ongoing Weightloss (OWL) where you start adding back foods in a specific order (all the while learning good eating habits and losing weight), pre-maintenance and then maintenance. By the time you get to maintenance you will have reached goal and learned new habits so you can eat this way for life. It is so much more than the first 14 days. But I'm assuming your friend told you that. You can get the book in any bookstore. Some people have gotten theirs used from Amazon or even from a second-hand book store. I'd urge you to get it as soon as possible so that you can be as successful as possible.

Hi and welcome. Your book will be your greatest resource, followed closely by ADBB of course.

Hi Christine and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!

Good for you on getting your hands on the book!

If you have Induction questions, post it in 14 Day Induction Forum in the Atkins Phases section of the board. General questions can be posted in the the Main Forum. There are Exercise forums in the Health Section, Journal Chats and Stats forums in the Miscellaneous section, and on and on... soooo your best bet is to just explore the site and see which ones interest you!

Take care and we'll see you around the board!
