I am new to the site but not to the Adkins diet. I once lost 36 pounds on the diet. I remarried three years ago and life became very comfortable and there I gained all and more of the weight back. I am having a terrible time of trying to get started on dieting, I can't seem to get the first day under my belt. I also have a very boring job, just sit there most of my 10 hours a day; four days a week. I walk two miles on the treadmill every a.m. buy that does not seem to be working. HELP ME

Welcome to the Boards!! Jump back on the wagon and start again. I'm thrilled that you are exercising, but you don't mention if you are following Induction? Drinking water? Using the words I have read in millions of other posts, post a typical menu so the Moderators can assess what you are eating.

I'm glad you're here! We are all here to support you.

      Re: needing support

Welcome back. I'm almost finished week four of the WOE and it's great. I think this was my fourth attempt before I got it right. The other times I only made it anywhere from one day to three before I quit. The reason why is I didn't read the book, I thought you just ate unlimited meat and cheese and maybe some lettuce. I also considered it a diet, now it's a permanent way of eating.

Like many have said on these boards, to get thru induction make sure you eat only what's on the list, especially vegetables, and drink lots of water. Those times I failed and quit was because I was probably constipated and/or dehydrated and was miserable. This time following the book, I had no problems except for day three (major headache from coming off the sugar and junk). Once that was over I've felt great since.

It's great that you work out on the tread mill, just get the WOE started and you'll be all set.

I try and check in on these boards daily for inspiration and to learn.

Good luck and don't give up.

Hi ThresaPaq and welcome to ADBB and back to Atkins!

Well, you know Atkins works since you were successful before, so now you need motivation.

I agree with staziwa, post some menus in the Review My Menu forum, check out the Induction forum, join an exercise challenge, start a journal...support is all over the place here at ADBB!

Glad you're here and hope to see you around the board!

          Welcome to the board!

Keep walking, drinking your water, and journal what you are eating and doing on a daily basis. Oh, and don't forget....take your measurements. You'll be amazed how your body is shrinking fat cells into water cells and in time the weight will match what you are losing...it's a science Keeping track of the outside instead of the scale will help keep your focus a litte better.

Best wishes and keep plugging along...you'll see a noticeable difference.

            Re: needing support

I am trying to get used to this site, I think I am replying to all that wrote to support me, I think. I will insure it with copy and paste. I think it is great that everyone responded and I want to make sure I do the same. I am kind of pushed for time today, I have my grandson's birthday party to help set up and attend. He's four today and the lite of my life, well besides my husband.

I am 5'9", 39 years old and 178 pounds. My doctor wants my down to 150, I think I would like 140.

I guess I left out a few things, I drink 60oz. of water daily, even tho I hate it. I love diet soda.

I have 18 months of no caffiene. Most importantly I just celebrated six months of not smoking that was easy compared to this because I had food to fall back on, and I have.

I have great intensions when I get out of bed in the A.M. but by lunch boredom and cookie cravings have started. Again my job requires me to sit a lot and offers not much brain activity. (hospice nurse)

See I reconize my problem, I just can't control it. I need a challenge, a diet buddy.

I will get the Adkins' book today and start a food diary.

again I do appriciate your responses.

read the book, take your measurements.....

about the diet soda........in teh book it says "no aspertane"....it can stall your weight loss.....and there is a limit of 3 sweetners allowed a day.....so even a can of Diet Rite (made with splenda) will have 2 sweetners for the day used up

                Hey ThresaPaq!

I just started 4 weeks ago on induction. Just like you, 2 years ago after losing 30 lbs on the diet I entered a great relationship and became comfortable enough to gain it all back. I know how tough induction can be and the cravings always give me headaches, but it's worth it once you make it through. Try preparing foods ahead of time so when those craving hits you can grab an already prepared snack. Plan out your menu. It always seems to get easier after those first few days, once you get the need for sugar out! You've made a good decision by going back on the diet.

                Best Wishes,

                Saty
