    hey all and everyone...

    i dont want to say i'm joining the atkins just yet...being doing south beach for almost a month now...just wondering what the difference is...i have lost some weight but i feel its not enough....i would like a fast drop before summer like 25/30lbs...will settle for 20.....well you can call me frenchfri if you have any tips for me that would be great thanks have a great day.... frenchfri

    Hey Frenchfri,

    I want to say first off - Welcome to the board - I'm glad that you stopped by to check things out.

    I honestly wouldn't use the Atkins diet as a quick fix - speaking form personal experience - if you jump in and use this way of eating as a "diet" to lose a quick 20 lbs - You end up not doing much to help yourself from a long term standpoint. I've always gained the weight that I've lost back - over time - and then some - by not accepting what I now know to be true with the Atkins way of eating - you have to learn to adapt this way of eating to your life and see it as a "lifetime" change and not just as a quick fix. I hope this helps just a little.

      as we all know any thing you choose to do with your body is a life change...
      and on going...i'm a faster....that means i will go days without eating and drop quite a few pounds ..problem when i go till i cant go anymore i put double back on....got it now..took a long time to figure out that eating three meals a day..plus snacks in between is the proper way to do it....boy was that hard for me to figure out and accept..but now that i have i havent missed a meal in almost one solid month and what a surprise i'm not gaining weight....who knew this really worked!!!!!!! haaha...... besides all the doctors ,,, most of my friends and ect.... just bouncing around i'm not throwing in the towel for sb yet... i really like the diet but just looking to see what else is out there... i dont want anything to do with w/w... could not be bothered counting anything i'm a very busy person...the only thing i'm missing on sb is my beer... you tell me i can have beer on this diet i'm in like flinn....lol

        You can have beer on this diet. However, it comes along later. Really, the best thing for you to do is head over to your library and get a copy of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (we recommend the 2002 edition) and give it a read. Then you can make the comparisons to what you're doing now.

          there are so many reasons you should not try Atkins if all you are wanting is to loose wt quickly ..really I am not trying to discourage you but this really is about changing your life and wanting the wt loss to be permanent...
          you should read the book and see what you think..if you do not want to spend the money check it out of the library ..
          I can not imagine this as a quick fix sorry

            Hello. Each of us has to choose the path that is right for us. I can only say that this has been the best thing I've ever done for myself. Atkins has been a program that I've been able to successfully adapt to.

            Whatever decision you make, the ADBB has lots of wonderful advice on living, exercising, eating and changing the negative habits to develop a healthy life-style.

              Welcome!

              You might find a copy of Dr. A's 2002 version of Atkins at the local thrift store really reasonable or go for the gusto and pick up the copy at Walmart or the like to get a hands on approach of what Atkins is about.

              Atkins works for me because it's a woe that teaches me how to add foods back in that work for me.

                well thank you all very much...you are very helpfull...i will pick up the atkins book as well..and will weigh the pro's and cons of it all...in the meantime i will stickt to what i'm doing... sorry to bother you all i just wanted to know heard so many wonderful things about both diets....french

                    Hi. I'm new to the ADBB as well. I've done Atkins before with great results after my first 2 kids. I'm back on board after my final 3rd child. Hope to talk to you on the boards in the future! Good luck! Heather
