  • Hello all!

    Hello,

My name is Deborah. I am starting today. I have a wedding to attend at the end of June and I would like to at least be down to 250 by then, but I am not sure if that will happen. As long as the scale moves down, then I will be content. I am happy to be here and look forward to losing with everyone.

    H20 I love my water!(Deborah)

Good to meet you and good luck on your challenge. If you haven't done Atkins before, there are things you must know to succeed. And you should familiarize yourself with Dr. Atkin's New Diet Revolution 2002 edition "DANDR".
And don't get upset if you only lose 20-30 pounds - if you exercise you will replace fat with muscle and feel specially good!

      Re: Hello all!

Thanks for the welcome. I am worried about this way of eating to be honest. I have no trouble with the water, the food, or anything like that. However, I am not a big eater in the day time. I am a compulsive nighttime snacker. I lose my will power after the sun goes down (nope, not a vampire either). Any advice for nighttime munchies?

Nighttime muchies got me, too, when I started. If you like a good crunch, try porkskins/cracklins you can find puffed ones most anywhere; I like the harder to find skinny strips that are hard & seasoned lightly with cayenne. Or you can nuke grocery store cracklins from the meat dept.
Celery w/cream cheese is another favorite, but quantity is restricted. Also satisfying is eating mostly-broth soup made with extra water, or drinking just broth through a coffee stir straw 1/3-1/2 bouillon cube plus a pinch of epsom (Magnesium) and 1/3-1/2 tsp. aquarium salt (balance of 70K trace minerals for artificial seawater) and plenty hot water.
Lately, I've been munching clams in front of the tube since found a place to dig them - it takes awhile to get each bite.

          Boonie,

Sounds like some good tips. I have a frozen bag of pre-cooked shrimp in the fridge. Maybe I should thaw some of those out for later.

Hello Deborah! So happy to have you join us. We all lose at different speeds, so make sure you take your measurements now so you can keep a comparison of how thin you are getting!! The best tip I can give to you is to make it happen by reading the book and doing the plan the way Dr. Atkins suggested. He was the expert. It worked for me and It is still working.

Make a plan of action. Write out what to do when you are feeling blue or something happens in your life that makes you want to reach for a comfort food. If you have alternative plans, it will be easier to break the old 'eating for comfort' habit and replace it with walking, writing, drinking water or something else to help with the stress.

Best wishes!! You will do it, we are all here to support and encourage you!!

Welcome aboard!!! My favorite nightime snacks are cheese, veggies with ranch dressing, slices of whatever meat I have, tuna salad, a hard boiled egg, a deviled egg. The possibilities are endless!!!!

Good luck! I can't wait to see how you do!

                Re: Hello all!

That wouldn't last me very long. (I even eat the tail shells on crispy fried shrimp) Alas, according to DANDR, protein can be converted to carbs if your protein intake is too high - better eat them with a lot of sauce; I bet mayo, with a dash coctail sauce and horseradish would be delish! mmmm

                  Becky,

Thank you so much for the positive encouragement. I am going to sit down this evening and make some resolutions or plans on what to do when the food cravings hit.
