Hi all,
My name is Judy and this is my 2nd go at low-carbing, first time using this board.
I am disabled with extremely limited mobility, so the low carb woe is ideal for someone like me. I do not know my exact weight and am not focusing on that or on a specific goal weight at this time, which I know is far different than most of you here. My weight has exceeded the scales and so I have no real tool for measuring success other than how I feel...and to me, that is most important.
The first time I tried Atkins was about 5 years ago, and before I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I lost weight, felt great, but hit that plateau and couldn't lose anymore...which happens to a lot of people, but is more of a problem with people who suffer from hypothyroidism. I was able to exercise then, but am unable to now. It's a long story which I won't go into here, but I am not receiving medication right now for my hypothyroidism. The short of it is that there is a problem with my insurance coverage, which may not be straightened out for a while yet. It's been hard for me to be patient, but going back into low carbing is something at least that I can do for myself while I try to patiently wait for red tape to become untangled. So, I am suffering all of the symptoms with no relief right now. I am NOT relying on low carb woe to "cure" my disease. I simply want -- scratch that -- need to feel a little better, and I know I can get that from low carbing without causing damage to my body. It is the only plan that has ever worked for me.
So, bear with me - starting weight unknown, two days into induction again (and feeling fine so far), and a goal of simply feeling better.
Thanks for the support that all of you offer here for other users. I appreciate all of the sharing and information that is posted...it's great for encouragement and reminders of little things that I had forgotten about previously. Wish me luck, and I do the same for all of you!
Judy
