  • starting over again

    Hi, my name is Lisa,
I am new here, I have read many of the posts and they are so encouraging and helpful , I am very happy I have found this group, well this is my second time on atkins my first time was 3 years ago after my divorce I started out at 230pounds lost about 30 pounds by just fasting ( religous reasons) and then started atkins and lost the rest of the weight in about 7 mo that put me at 125 pounds .
I did good maintaining that weight for a long time by only allowing myself to eat (bad carbs ,white flour and sugar) like once a month , and
now sence I have been in my second marriage for near 2 years now I have sadly packed on about 45 pounds , well I guess its only to be expected when you eat out alot , and my eating habits totally changed after we were married , well out with the old habits and in with the new! , I know now I must change my eating, I have been so tired and down about my weight for a while now. so today starts day one of atkins for me , I had my 13 yr old daughter take pictures of me ( before pics) and oh my its scary seeing me for who I really am, they say pictures dont lie, well I look like the pillsbury dough girlorboy, lol, well I am praying to find some friends here . and I know this time I will succeed!.

      Welcome, welcome, welcome!

You are definitely in the right place to find help, support and friends!

Wow you sure did great the first time around, a loss of 105 pounds is INCREDIBLE! At least you have the upper hand knowing that it DOES work and you CAN do it, something that new people to the plan often doubt.

So let's see those starting pics!

Welcome again, if you ever need anything feel free to PM!
Female / Currently on Extended Induction (again), begun 6/2/08.

I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

      The reason I quit...

Starting over is scary...Stick with it...I lost 65 lbs. with atkins after ending 10 yr. relationship...now in new relationship gained back 45 lbs...Eating out is fun, but you pay for it twice...Hang in there, this time around we'll be stronger!!!

          Re: starting over again

          Hi Lisa,

          Welcome!

I love the fact that you've chosen Faith, Hope and Love to sign in on.

I'm also returning after a 6 month leave from Adkins. The first time I also started at 230 and went down to 130/134 and maintained it for around 4 years. I'm back and plan to lose and keep this off this time.

So, I know we both can do this, no matter what. I wish you the best in the upcoming days. Jump into the journals and connect with as many people for support as you need. There should also be a boot camp coming up soon that you could join in the challenges section. You can also read through some of the induction sections of the site for support until boot camp starts.
