  • Day three...and I'm in trouble already!

    I ate some low carb candy - I just read that's a no-no.

Anyway, I'm new - hello all! Just wanted to introduce myself....

I've been lurking in the "before and after" forum - it's inspiring to say the least. I can't wait to slip into a medium sized sundress this summer!

    Welcome!

No matter what you do, do NOT beat yourself up over some low carb candy. Just imagine the junk you would've eaten before and praise yourself for the improvement. Even if the candy were to impact your ketosis, get right back on the wagon and your body will barely notice.

    So tell us about yourself?

Welcome aboard! I guess if you were lurking around the before and after threads you already know this WOE works so I don't need to say anything else.

Re: Day three...and I'm in trouble already!

For Induction, the recommendation is to steer clear of Frankenfood . . . actually, it is best to steer clear of it altogether! But don't beat yourself up; just climb back up on the wagon. We are all here to help you aboard!

To the poster who asked why not low carb candy - well, it's full of chemicals and the sugar alcohols are not a friend of the Atkins dieter. First of all, they are chemicals, can create stalls, and generally are pretty icky! If you are craving something sweet, look at the recipe boards, or a low carb cookbook (George Stella's are pretty good) for a treat to bake, with no chemicals.

            Good luck!!

Re: Day three...and I'm in trouble already!

Don't worry about having the candy..you've learned from it and now you won't do it again. Just make sure to get back on your diet plan and you'll be happy you did. The first few days of Induction are the hardest, but your cravings will get less and less (I didn't believe it either) you for sure should check out the recipe board here, they've got some great desserts on there if you've got a sweet tooth.
                You're doing great!

Re: Day three...and I'm in trouble already!

Okay - about me - I'm going to school to be a science teacher, I'm an artist (oil painting), I enjoy knitting (small projects), I'm a gourmet cook, I love gardening (for cut flowers and roses), and I'm tired of being fat!

I've been in fat denial, now it's time to bite the bullet. I guess the first few days are the hardest - trying to break the sugar habits! Eating a LOT more vegetables. Hitting the gym...

                    Thanks for the nice welcome!

Wow you sound like a very talented individual! You should be able to eat well if you are gourmet chef! Do you have any good low carb recipes?

One of the best things you can do is exercise during induction so I'm glad you are going to the gym! Sounds like you are off to a good start.

                      Have a great day...

Sure, I'll keep in touch! I'm just getting started on here, though...

As for low carb recipes - last night I made a taco salad - taco meat, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, red peppers - it was great! I'm not all gourmet all the time, I go to school and work full time - but it's nice to have the skills to get your chef on when you feel like it. The other night I made a ribeye steak, broiled med rare with a portobella mushroom ragout. I'll post that recipe in the forum!
