*Newbie, I am so LOST!*

    Hey there, I would really appreciate some help from someone...

    I've been on the Atkins Diet for ABOUT 5 weeks now, (cheated a few times, but have been doing REALLY good)
    I absolutely LOVE the way the diet makes me feel! I will eat my HUGE italian bmt salad from subway while my friends eat their footlong sandwich.... and at the end, they want to go to sleep while I want to DO SOMETHING! I LOVE IT!

    Well.... I know for a fact that I will ALWAYS be on this diet. That's how good it makes me feel! =] BUT... EVERYWHERE I go people are dissing the diet saying "its BAD - YOURE GONNA DIE! - too much protein is BAD! - Youre gonna get heart disease - youre cholesteral has probably SKY ROCKET'D! - etc - etc!"

    Ok I know for a FACT that the cholesteral myth is a lie! Because my dad got on the diet BECAUSE of his bad cholesteral... and it helped him!
    BUT... what about all the other myths!? What is true and what isnt? People like to tell me "Dr. Atkins is dead... he died of a heart attack!" (What am i suppose to say?... "Oh i personally KNEW him and that is SO-NOT-TRUE!")

    And my biggest problem at the moment is (sorry for this topic but...) I NEVERRRRRRR go poop! Probably once in a while after i've cheated-or-so! But I DO pee alot! One of the people who tell me these "myths?", tell me that the reason why I'm not pooping is because the diet is bad (blah blah blah).

    And the only explanation that someone who is PRO atkins told me:

    "Your poop is what your body doesnt want... the "bad stuff",
    so if you aren't eating bad-junky-foods (sugar)... you dont go poop!)

    PLEASE someone explain to me... why I do not go poop... is it bad? Is it only because i need more fiber? I seriously need a logical explanation so that I can tell these ANTI-ATKINS people that atkins is GOOD!

    Dr Atkins slipped on an icy sidewalk and hit his head, which eventually killed him. As I understand, his death had nothing to do with his program.

      Oh yes, that's what I tell these anti-atkins haters! And they just laugh at me and say... wow what a great excuse. And then they look at me like im an idiot!!!!!

        I think that is a little too simple of an explanation but true. We burn what we eat for fuel instead of having a bunch of crap (pun intended) left over. Extra fiber will make you poop more but your just pooping out the fiber.

            ok so....

            What I eat is just being burned! So if i ate a bunch of crap... what I DONT need (crap) is the poop? ON THE DIET... I don't eat "crap" so I don't make poop. BUT if I intake extra fiber... I'm basically pooping that extra fiber that I just ate!?

            sooooo confusing! lol

              Yes that is so true. And for the most part those people dont get to me. But when I can't back myself up with info.. then It DOES get to me. And then when they say "Ok when you get sick later on and have a heart attack or kidney stones... i'm just gonna say *i told you so*."
              ... and that obviously gets to me... mostly because I have no idea if the atkins diet causes such things.

              ... I'm sure for every person things happen differently, but with me... it makes me feel SO good. And I don't plan on letting go of the atkins diet -ever-.

                once you are done with induction and the ongoing weight loss, you are basically just eating a balanced diet for life...you can eat fruits and vegatables...

                most people think atkins is meat only, forever

                and by the way, my dad had kidney stones and never was on any diet, much less atkins... there are too many factors involved to blame it on a few months of a low carb diet

                  wow thank you so much I read all about the pooping and I feel much better I went out today and bought flax seed oils. Also I have ben on this diet for 5 weeks and I have not lost a pound in like 3 what is up I have not cheated not even once.HELP

                    Also this is the 3rd time I have looked at this sight I get so much info but I never have ben able to get an ansswer back and what do i have to do to get the little scle on the bottom

                        just go to www.tickerfactory.com and pick out how you want it to look

                        once you are done, it gives you an address, when you get the address, you copy it into your "signature" from your control panel

                          I had a problem with being constipated when I first began. I didn't go for 9 solid days, I was bloated and miserable. It was actually one of my first questions here, and 2Big helped me... I also started taking my zelnorm again and added in a 3-6-9 omega complex oil capsule along with my Ultra Mega Womens.

                          I also got the "it's sooo bad for your health" lecture from a few people. My mother, who is a registered dietician (and also 5'4" 240 WITH a gastric band and still living on McDonalds, pizza, whole milk, etc) said to me the other morning while visiting, "do you eat sausage every day?! you're killing your heart with all that fat, isn't there something else you could eat"? Before I even realized it i'd said "YOU don't tell me how to eat"... and walked away as she said WHAT?! It was classic.

                          My whole point here is that only you can be the judge of what you do, and that other people (even the most educated) will not know what is best for your personal fitness and well-being. Stay with us and lose that weight! Then you'll know it's just their jealousy!
