  • Back on Atkins again .. and again .. and again

    Hi everyone,

My name is Heidi and I originally did Atkins about 5 years ago and at the time went from 160 lbs to about 135 lbs. Over the next 4-5 years after I stopped, I ballooned up to 210 lbs. and last year I told myself I was going to do Atkins again and this time do it for life. Unfortunately, I tried to do it at least twice, and here I am again, trying to do it for the 4th or 5th time.

I'm hoping this time around that I will reach and maintain my goal. I am only Day 15 and already fell off the wagon, though I am picking myself up, dusting off, and going right back on the horse.

I am doing the July 4th Challenge with some friends, and I am sticking to it. Also, I will be graduating from college next month, which is a great incentive for me to stick to my diet. Also, now that I've discovered this site, I am hoping to get more support from fellow low-carbers, because frankly it's pretty hard out there, with everyone ragging on Atkins dieters and/or low-carbers.

Any tips, advice and general words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated.

    4/10=202.5 (Atkins Day 1)
    4/15=195.5
    4/18=193.0
4/25= 190 (Not bad, but I really must get my butt to the gym!)

    5/09=
    5/16= (Goal for 5/19 Graduation: 185 lbs.)
    5/23=

Re: Back on Atkins again .. and again .. and again

            Welcome!

You CAN do this, and we're here to help! We're cheering you on and can't wait to share your success with you. And WOW at the success you've already had, 12.5 pounds in 15 days is REALLY amazing, especially at your starting weight!

If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to ask. And feel free to PM me anytime if you need anything at all.

This board has made all the difference in my resolve and focus this time around (I'm on my third Atkins attempt at the moment), so I encourage you to get active on the boards, spend some time every day here, and see if it makes a difference in keeping your eye on your goal. I know it does for me, don't know what I'd do without the guys and gals here.

            Good luck!

I did Extended Induction from 1/3 to 5/9 (2006) and lost 55 pounds, so I know I can do it again!

              Thanks so much, everyone!

I've been lurking on this site for about 2 weeks now, and now that I finally decided to post, I realize how much I LOVE it here already! Everyone's so supportive and knowledgeable. I will definitely come here every week (most likely join the Second Time Around Club).

Again, thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to sharing success stories with you all! Hopefully soon I'll have enough of a weight loss to post my photos, hehe!

                    Thanks again, everyone!

I wish I discovered this site years ago (did it exist in 1999?)

Re: Back on Atkins again .. and again .. and again

                      Hi Heidi,
I can relate. I've gone off and on Atkins a few times myself. I'm here to stay now. I like the way I feel when I'm on Atkins. I like not getting the blood sugar highs and lows. Do I get jealous watching other people eat things I can't? Heck yeah! But, I figure if I find enough recipes and substitutes for foods I like I will be okay. So far, I've lost 20 lbs. Good luck with your endeavour! Susan
