HI! My name is Amy and (shame on me) was one of the "doubters" for the longest time. Well after seeing one of my co-workers lose a large amount of weight and really feel great my curiosity got the best of me. I have had a weight problem for about 8 years now. When I met my now husband 8 1/2 years ago I was young, healthy and SKINNY! That soon all changed. Around the same time I quit smoking, started a real job and had to cook for this man. Food soon became an emotion for me. The times we were happiest was at family feasts which, you southerners can back me on this, was all the time. So I began to equate happy with good rich heavy food. Long story short, I gained 65 lbs in less than 3 years. He gained more. We never really stopped eating just kept saying we should. It really hit me the day I went to the DR. to get a pre-conception exam. My dr. told me flat out to loose weight now or having a baby would be imposible. I was heart broken. Now, 2 1/2 years later, after rounds of tests and fertility drugs, I am convinced my weight is keping me from being a mother. So I decided it was time to take things in my own hands. After a month on induction (I have a long way to go) I feel great!
I am even seeing a difference in my fertility signs. Now I am ready to change the world! (or at least thats how I feel) Gosh, I'm sorry this is so long!

Re: Greetings Ya'll!
Thanks for the welcome!
I am so excited about finally knowing what has kept my body this way for so long. I feel like I am out of the dark now.
I never thought that no sugar or french fries (my former fav) would make me feel this GOOD! I hope I am able to keep this energy the whole way thru. And now that I have found this board, when I feel a bit down or off track, I know ya'll will set me straight!

Hi bcberri and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!
I'm glad your friends success convinced you Atkins is a healthy way to lose weight. And I really hope that your weight loss will help with your family plans!
Congrats on your loss so far, that's awesome! What phase of Atkins are you in, Induction? Is your DH going to eat Atkins too?
If you haven't explored the board very much yet, you'll be interested in the 14 Day Induction forum and Main forum ... there are a lot of people posting in those forums just starting out.
Also, there are a lot of other great forums, each offering the support and motivation you need to success!Shelly

Re: Greetings Ya'll!
Shelly, Yes hubby is changing as well. Diabetes runs like crazy in his family and his dr. told him flat out he needed to change his life or he would risk an early death. That kind of scared us both. We are in Induction right now. Hubby has 110lb to lose and I have 65+ so we have decided not to move up to OWL just yet. I think we will begin OWL in about 2-3 weeks. Our boddies really needed a kick start. We both struggled so hard at first. But we are commited to this WOL.

Re: Greetings Ya'll!
Good luck with everything! It's great that you and your husband are both doing this. FYI, I find it helpful to have baggies of cheese and veggies precut to help you thru the times where you're hungry 'all of the sudden'. Sometimes when I get home from work and I'm making dinner, it helps to just pop a piece of cheese or veggie while I'm getting everything ready. OR, keep a few baggies at work for your snack. It really helps! That way, you don't hit the vending machines or go get fast food.sigpicHeather, age 37
