Hello everyone...im new and this is my first post...have been reading posts for a week or so and decided i needed to jump in...my daughter and i are on our 5th day of induction...i have lost 7 pounds so far and she has lost 4....i am 54 and currently weigh 305 so i have a very long weigh to go....for lst several months have been researching gastric bypass surgery...because of the risk factors i felt like i needed to find a doable diet and chose atkins..am a diabetic with other health problems so am hoping i can succeed ...i recently separated from spouse and moved in with my 24 year old daughter who wants to lose 100 pounds so we are doing this together...just had a question...is it normal to have a queasy stomach? i've read about others who refer to induction flu and was wondering if that is what they experienced...thank you for listening! dana

Re: Hello Newbie Here Love this Board!
There is such a wide range of different feelings/symptoms that you can have during your transition into this style of eating. Don't be put off by it! Instead, be assured that once your body adjusts it will thank you in the form of all kinds of energy and other benefits.
It is great that you and your daughter are able to support each other through this. It is always better to have a buddy when learning new things!
Make sure you check out the recipes forum and the journals too. They are both excellent ways of boosting your experience on Atkins!Jennifer

Re: Hello Newbie Here Love this Board!
Hi Dana and welcome to ADBB and Atkins!
Excellent start with your weight loss, for you and your daughter! Is you daughter going to sign onto ADBB too?
I'm glad to hear you're following the Atkins way of eating before making a choice of surgery...it's such an awesome diet, full of healthy foods! Since you're living with your DD, it'll be fun for you to check out the Food/Recipe forums and try some of the various recipes! Variety is so very important!
There's also a Diabetic forum that you might want to check out!
Glad you hear, hope to see you around the board!

Re: Hello Newbie Here Love this Board!
Welcome! You'll love this place. I haven't been able to read the board for a couple of days, and boy did I miss it. I find it very encouraging (almost addicting).
Best wishes for you and your daughter. It makes a difference to have someone to share this with. My husband and I are doing it together, and it's been great.June Goals
1. Continue with water
2. Use bike more (3x per week would be nice).
3. Continue with videos.
4. Go to the YMCA for water classes.
5. Build stamina for more walking.
Goals for May:
1. Water every day - at least 100 oz.
2. Walk through Wal Mart instead of ride.
3. Post every day.
4. Get the exercise bike out of basement and use it!
5. Re-read DANDR! It's been too long.
