  • Great place to feel good

Hi, I am new to the board. I have been on Atkins a couple of months but found out from you all the Atkins Bars are really a no no.
So after reading all of your success stories I am going to start over tomorrow fresh on Induction. I am a 46 yr. old mom of 3. Most of my life I was a decent weight but I have really bad back problems and my weight soared a few yrs ago and could not get it off. I have 20 more pounds to go and it feels like I will never get there, So thank goodness for finding this board. My biggest problem is sweets. After all protien and salad I just want something cold or hot but sweet.
That why the bars were great but they really screwed me up. I even stayed on induction which I thought the bars were part of.
How often do yall weigh in. My fluid level bounces the scale all around.
Any tips will help. I would like to get this weight off by September. Is that possible?????
    Thanks, Joni

Hi Joni! Post some of your stats (height, weight, etc) in your signature and the answers we give you will be better suited to your specific situation.

Some people weigh every day and some people never weigh. I think it really comes down to how you handle loss when it is slow. Some people find slow loss and stuck scales to be just what they needed to excuse a fall off the wagon - and that is very hard to recover from. I way a good bit and my fluid bounces a lot too. I am not easily discouraged by the scales so it doesn't bother me.

And, yes, aren't those bars the devil??

    Welcome!

Re: Great place to feel good

        Jennifer,
How well do you handle what the scale tells you? I sometimes can get very discouraged by scale numbers! I weigh once a week and sometimes I think it's too often for me.
I don't need a negative number on the scale to discourage me from all the good things I have been doing. I set myself up with a pair of intermediate goal pants and put them on about once a week to check my progress. If I get no change on the scale but my goal pants fit better, it helps me to deal with the scale better.
Keep moving foward and good luck to ya.

          Hey Joni! Welcome aboard!

I totally understand the desire for something sweet - my favorite Induction-friendly treat is panna cotta (Italian sweet cream). I bought those little Glad 1/2 cup containers, make the panna cotta, pour them in, and then I have 6 sweet treats that won't break the bank!! Look at the recipe section on this board. There are a lot of brilliant Induction-friendly treats to be found!

Also, check out http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/ -- Linda's welbiste has some great Induction recipes and menus! Yummy good stuff!

          Good luck!
