  • Back on the Atkins! Hello!

Hi there, just to introduce myself...!

Am back on atkins after spending a lot of time in Italy and being slowly fed to death!
Am a reasonable active 27yr old woman and kick started the year working in France and getting gastroenteritis and uncontrollably vomitting for 3days, ending up the skinniest I have ever been: 122lbs (on my 5'8'' fairly athletic frame, I looked pretty awful). Obviously it was never gonna stay at that level, but changes in the routine, moving back to UK (Gatwick belly!), then on to the land of 'eat tons of pasta and white bread or starve to death' where I was snowboarding everyday or it would have got even worse, and then again back to the UK, where I am now not even doing any exercise - just walking to the shops to pick up chocolate and space raider crisps. Since end of January, I have put on 33lbs . Enough is enough - I've had my 'fun-time' with the pizza's, pastries and crisps.
I had every intention of getting back on the wagon again when I got back, but my willpower has just disappeared out the window .

So am looking for support - have always dieted better when other people are in the same situation or when there's a weekly support group.
My boyfriend is doing a very relaxed version of the Atkins, so it will be interesting to see how we both do.

Was on Atkins a few times before and quite effortlessly lost 30lbs the first time. It did become harder the next couple of times for some reason, perhaps because I didn't have that 'new diet' zeal and maybe was not following it to the letter as I have before.

The main problem I have is breakfast: haven't got tons of money to be buying loads of smoked salmon every day, and I hate eggs. What do you guys end up doing?
Also, can you have peanut butter during induction? And what about skimmed milk in tea?

Also, does anyone have similar stats to mine? Would be good to have an example of how it's going...

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Hi, I am not crazy about eggs either. I eat bacon alot and I also cook enough dinner for for breakfast. i do not mind eating burger patties or chicken an it saves time. good luck

Holic - thanks for sharing your story; it sounds like you already have experienced Atkins first hand; so you know what to expect cravings-and-energy wise.

My hubby, too, has been loosely following the Atkins plan, and has lost as much (or perhaps a bit more) weight than I have since my start just over 3 months ago - I'm trying not to resent him too much for it...

Anyhow, let us know how you are progressing, and as for the breakfast dilemma; I tend to eat whatever I think would be tasty, and don't put too much stock on the time of day. I've been known to start my day with some steak or chicken, a salad, some soup - really anything that makes me want to eat, frankly.

Best of luck to you and your hubby! And welcome to the board!

      S.

Re: Back on the Atkins! Hello!

thanks for the support guys - will let you know how I get on. Feel very proud for not cheating on my first day so far - have been stuck indoors (thankfully there are no real cheat foods in the house). I know that after a few days the temptation will be all but over. Plus, a real good incentive is that I think some water weight has come off, as the scales already register a 3lb loss!! Weird...

          Hi,
Congratulations on the 3 pound weight loss

I'm so happy that you had a good first day. You're right it usually takes about 3 days for me and all of the temptations are over. So, you're doing a great job by keeping all of the cheat foods out of the house. Also keep your refrigerator stocked with plenty of LC induction foods so that you don't feel tempted to cheat.

Your're doing great! I'm so happy for you

Re: Back on the Atkins! Hello!

Thanks so much - another cheat free day goes past... even with my brothers 21st birthday and a huge family outting to the mexican - had an avocado and feta salad with steak and nowt but water - is any of that non-induction? tasted great....
Oh and another 1lb has disappeared somewhere. Maybe I left it at the restaurant...

              Woo-hoo!
