This may seem kinda odd, but relay to us what kind of job you have? Is it active? Is it office type?

And also, what exactly do you mean "lucky to get a lunch"? Is your schedule so hectic that you don't have time? Do you drive a lot and have lots of meetings that go with the job?

The reason I ask, is so we can better understand your situation, and possibly help you find solutions to having an unstable eating schedule, because according to Dr. Atkins, you must not go longer than 6 waking hours without eating. For multiple reasons.

If you have any questions, just ask. Someone will definitely help you out with anything you need. That's what we are here for; support...

(Did I use that semicolon properly? I am never really sure when it's an appropriate time to use a semicolon. Much like using the word "whom." I can never be sure.)

Welcome, Val! I'm in VA too! Ever hear of Gladys? We have a post office. And a gas station. But no stoplight yet, unfortunately. Nobody stops, anyway.
Did you say that your Dr. put you on this diet. Hooray for him!!!! Give us his name so that we can send him a fruit basket!
Again, welcome. Hope that you enjoy your stay.

Hi Valerie. Welcome. I don't think you'll make a few friends here, I think you'll make many many friends - all who want to see you succeed and get healthy! You're very lucky that you have such an intelligent doctor who supports Atkins.

Besides reading Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, edition 2002...drinking lots of water, taking your supplements and exercising...I'd advise you to write out a plan. If you try to do Atkins around your life, you might get put on the back-burner. What I recommend is to live your life around your WOE. You come first! There will be times when you are feeling blue or issues arise in your life, so a written plan will help you keep motivated and stay focused.

Do you take a lunch to work or go out? Do you have to eat at your desk? There are several things you can do. Make sure you have water to drink throughout the day. I make 'emergency packets' to snack on for times when I don't get to eat a proper meal. If it can be refrigerated or put in a small cooler...I take celery sticks, green pepper sticks, chunks of cheese and meat (chicken, porkchop, meatballs, beef) and avacado. If it can't be refrigerated, I take a packet of tuna, may packet, pork rinds, jerky). It can be done, you just have to plan. If your fellow workers go out -- check out the foods that are served where you go and ask if they will accomodate you. Most places want your business and will be happy to substitute items to keep you as a customer.

I hope this helps. Again...welcome and if you need help, just give a hoot. Everyone here is very supportive and want to see you succeed.

              Re: Newbie here in Virginia

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome !!!!
I work at a blood service , and if we are there 6-8 hrs collecting blood, the customers dont really think about the staff needing a lunch break, even when one is scheduled people come and we cannot refuse them, they cause a stink if we even think about it. I have been getting a 5 min. break each day so far sometimes 15 ! So this week has been okay. I have gotten my ticker( thank you for your help) and hope to be able to use it, lol. Any tips are welcome to this newbie. Hello also to Gladys, yep I have heard of it.....I am originally from a small spot in the road north of Roanoke.
