  • focused for ME!

    Hi everyone! Today is my first day of the induction period. I have done this before and know that it works. I need to trim at least 15 pounds off rather quickly. Any helpful hints for the first week, which for me is the most difficult? I started with a cup of coffee this morning (I know that I am not suppose to have it; but I HAVE to), and two over medium eggs.

    I would love to be motivated. I really need to cut back on the coffee.

    water water water and try to stay away form caffeine I still have a drink once every couple of days but much better than like 3-4 sodas a day!

      Hi Kerry (Sister)!

      Good for you! You will love the support and helpful advice here at the Atkins Forums.

      Your coffee drinking is just a habit! Try to look at it that way and just start doing something different each morning. Drink a glass of ice water instead. The 1st few days ARE the hardest, but then after that you don't really miss it.

      You really need to do a "CLEAN" Induction. This means you shouldn't have caffiene at all!

            Hi Kerry,

            Make sure you put my name when you say "Love You", otherwise, everyone else will think you are talking to them. LOL

            Go to the Induction Forum and read all the "STICKY'S". They are very imformative and will help you a ton.

            You are okay with your breakfast. But, I would stay away from Hot Dogs as they are a processed meat. Look through all the forums and get some food ideas. There is a recipe forum at this site as well. Also. do you have the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins? That is the book you need to get.

              and she forgot to tell you but some of your veggie carbs need to be had at every meal so you start getting in the habit of having som fats some proteins and some of your carbs at every meal and the hot dog carbs aren't the kind i mean. when you are in OWl and having 45-50 net carbs a day you don't want to bolus the blood sugar effect by havcing 0 fro breakfast and 30+ for lunch or dinner. balance them out at all meals.

              Happy low carbing oh and if nobody told you you are about to feel sick with induction flu as your body goes theough withdrawal from all the carb foods.

                Hi Kerry and welcome to the boards. Everyone is really supportive and kind and its great that ur sis is supporting you too!

                  Hi Kerry!

                  Welcome! Caffine can inhibit your weight loss. Just like they said, it's a habit. I used to drink 7 or more diet cokes everyday, and drink coffee too! It's just a change that you have to do! Try and herbal tea (caffiene free) with a shot of cream.....I know, it's not the same, but you will get used to it.

                  Oh and by the way, for a couple of days you might experience a slight headache, don't worry and don't give into the temptation, it will go away! I promise! Mine has gone away for good! Drink lots of WATER WATER WATER! That will also help with hunger pains!

                    Just cheekin in on you to see how you are holding up. Have you given up the coffee yet? It has been a week since I have had my usual 1 cup in the morning and I don't even miss it.

                    I hope you can challenge yourself to give up this caffiene habbit!

                      Hi Kerry! And welcome aboard!

                      So, 15 pounds, huh? That's not a lot of weight, so don't be surprised if it doesn't fly off like it has for some of us with way more weight to lose. However, DO NOT OBSESS ON THE SCALE!! Take your measurements, everywhere. Check track of those numbers instead. Keep track of how your clothes feel. Are they looser? Is your goal to fit into something particular for a special day?

                      Absolutely drink water (at the very minimum 64 ounces - most of us do 100), eat your veggies, and exercise. We are here to support you in whatever ways you need! Post your menus, your exercise plan, whatever, and let the pros on this board help you!

                            Hey Kerry,

                            Just checking in on you! I haven't seen you on the board lately. I hope you are on track and doing well with this WOE! You should really look into some of the great Induction Friendly recipes. They are wonderful and have helped me stay on track AND complete a "CLEAN" 2 week induction period. Also, I have eliminated coffee/caffiene completely from my diet.

                            You can do this. It really is just "HEALTHY" eating! It is NOT a "DIET"!
