  • I'm back...

After quite a while, I'm coming back to Atkins. A few years back (I don't recall exactly how long, although I can check my notes) I went from about 210 to 140 on Atkins in about 7 months. I moved to a (very) liberal OWL and went to about 150 and stayed there for a while.

About a month ago my wife and I began our kitchen remodeling project (big mistake). Not having a kitchen means eating a lot of junk and eating out often, and not having water easily available. I had been feeling fat and today I hopped on the scale and weighed in at 163.5! yikes!

So I'm starting fresh with induction. I can do it without a kitchen! I have some pepperoni and cheese in the fridge and I'll get some salad. It will be a challenge, but I'm up for it (I hope). I know this WOE can work for me. It did before, I just hope it wll again.

I just had my 42nd birthday and don't want to get big as I age! I want to get back to about 140 and stay there this time.

Hopefully, I'll pick up tips I have forgotton from you folks and I'll read your experiences to help stay motovated. Hopefully there is a second chance!

    Re: I'm back...

Welcome back! You had great results before, so no doubt you'll jump back in and reconquer the battle of weight loss. You'll be able to vouch to everyone that this has to be a WAY OF LIFE, not a temperary way to lose weight.

I urge you to make a plan of action to keep focused on your woe - to help you get through the rough times as well as the easy times. As you know...when life gets hectic, it is harder to prioritize the issues in your life and keep your health top priority. If you've already organized a plan ... it becomes easier.

Best wishes!! Please keep us posted!

jarcher, I know what you mean about kitchen remodeling. I started Atkins in January and we started a kitchen remodel not long after. For nearly a month I had to get by with a microwave in the dining room. And we worked every evening, so I ate a lot of pizza-sans-crust. It's a pain, but you CAN do it! And I'm sure the end result will be worth it -- both in your house and on your waistline!

        Welcome back.

          Re: I'm back...

          Thanks everyone!

The kitchen project, of course, is not confined to the mere kitchen! NOOOOO... When we remodel, we have to really really remodel! This involves tearing out the wall between the kitchen and the dining room, so that means the dining room is out of commission as well. And removing the ugly door frames to the living room screwed up the floor, so the living room is invaded... The downstairs bathroom is just 4 feet by 6 feet, so why not redo it along the way?

Bottom line, we're reduced to a small shelf in the living room for all our food and all the water is in the upstairs bathroom. Oh, and the fridge we keep pushing all over the place to get it out of the way.

But I'll survive! Thanks for all the encouragement everyone! My first day was a good one; two omlets. Tomorrow will be a nice salad with grilled chicken on top!

You came to the right place, Jarcher. There is no better time than now to start living a healthier lifestyle. Happy belated Birthday.

Here at this board you will find a lot of company to do induction right along beside you, helping you with advice, recipes and good ol' fun.

You can find what you need in the 2002 edition of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, and the many challenges to join and threads for different topics.

Good luck with the remodeling. You are probably getting plenty of exercise; that's good. Have you considered using a portable burner or microwave? Cooking on a grill & freezing portions? Using a cooler for ice?

            Welcome back!

Well when the cold weather and rain stops we'll be grilling meat and fish. When we planned this project grilling was in the plan; the rain and cold was not. Thanks for the tips!

Do you have a George Foreman grill? Or another brand of the same type of appliance???

That would be fantastic for you during the remodel. They don't cost a whole lot either. You can "grill" your meats and veggies in no time flat.
