  • Knowing & Doing 2 Separate Things!!!

Ok, so I will jump in and just start! My name is Stephanie! I know that this diet really works! I know that I know that I know that this is the diet for me! Low carbing helps me more than just losing weight, it helps with my hormone levels and everything else! I know this is what I need to do!

My husband and I have gone back and forth on the atkins a few times now! Each time, we would plow through with a fantastic start and then we would halt and gain all plus more back! This last time though sticks out for me!

We were going along losing weight greatly! Then I quit smoking and oh wow... I could kill for chocolate! I needed it very much and had to have it on a daily basis! So I started eating the low carb stuff... some of which I really enjoyed! Then money got real tight, and so we stopped the diet and started eating what was cheap and boxed and LOADED with carbs! UGH!

I have gained all my 30 back plus the 10 that people get when they quit smoking! I know I need to do it. If I do it, I need to do it right and not allow the little cheats! But starting up again is really scarey for me! I love my carbs and I hate my weight!

Soon I will be starting! I really will! So there it is... my weak plea for !

    Thank you for being here!

    Stephanie

I understand your frustration , I have done the same many times, you should be grateful for having a husband who will do this with you , it makes it much better when your spouse supports you. well this time why dont you try some of the atkins friendly recipies on this site instead of reaching for the chocolate and junk foods, and remember if you can go without the junk food at least 30 days you will feel so much better and you may not even want the chocolate anymore, I know it seems hard . but you can do it!.

Hello. We've all walked in your shoes. Starting diets and failing. With the knowledge I've gained here in the ADBB...I've learned the secret at last!! It is to not think of this as a diet. Instead make it a life-style change for good. Replace the unhealthy habits with positive healthy ones for good. That is what I'm trying to do.

I'm not sure about the cheap, boxed carbed products that you speak of. I've always thought of cookies, chips and things as overpriced junk food. I now make my own snacks (pepperoni chips, cheese chips, lettuce roll-ups, etc). I'm not spending more money, but it is more time consuming to make your own instead of opening a box and chowing down.

You are so right about this WOE making you feel good besides losing weight. I've so much more energy and zest for life than I had at 285 pounds. My attitude is improved, self esteem and overall level of happiness about myself and my life. I'm so happy your husband is supportive and joining you in this adventure. It will be much easier doing it with your partner. Best wishes and please keep us posted!!!
      Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Dedication gives wings to our dreams and keeps them in flight! In One Word...COMMITTMENT.

        Hi

I like your screen name - faith is what I need to hold on to at the moment - I finally started the diet and after a week I gain 2inches around my waist/1inch around my tights - I didn't bother to weigh after that ..it's a disappointing - does anyone gain weight on this diet ??

        Well I won't give up - I will continue ...
        Any advice ...please?
        Thanks
