  • Hello Everyone!!!

    Hello everyone!
I'm 16 and need to lose some weight so I'm re-entering atkins. I've done it once before and lost weight, but I constantly felt tired. I'm gonna give it another shot though. I'm 5'11 and 186 pounds and I figure I need to lose around 25. I hope I can shed 10 in induction and the rest in phase 1. Any suggestions for some good atkins food/drinks that give you energy? Thanks for the feedback!

    Re: Hello Everyone!!!

    Hello and welcome.

First, what was your menu?? Please be aware that atkins is not just a diet it is a way of life... I know many people who have lost tons of weight on atkins and quit after they reached goal and gained all of it back plus some so please keep that in mind.

Post your menu and I am sure you will get plenty of suggestions.
    Good luck

      Re: Hello Everyone!!!

Hey Calloway! Welcome aboard the Atkins Train! 16 years old?!?! Wow, I vaguely remember 16!

First of all, with only 25 pounds to lose, do NOT be disappointed if you only use 5-7 pounds during Induction. A 10% loss during the first two weeks would be excellent. Then you can move into OWL to continue the fat-burning process, while adding in more variety of foods.

Second, remember to measure yourself. Seriously, those inches might fly off of you faster than the pounds! Watch your clothing sizes! You might be surprised to see the scale not move, but you drop a dress size. It's happened to me quite a bit on this journey!

Third, what kind of exercise are you planning on doing? It is imperative! Remember, Dr. Atkins said that exercise is non-negotiable. There are some excellent challenges on the Exercise Challenge forum. Check them out!

Fourth, check out the Teen Forum as well. It's good to see what your peers are up to!

Fifth, do NOT consume Atkins' drinks or bars. These are what we like to call (with scary movie sound effects) FRANKENFOOD!! Ewwww. These can stall your weight loss, and I know you don't want that! Go for healthy, whole, nutritious food and lots of water and you can't go wrong!

Finally, just a general good luck on your journey! I can't wait to see your successes.
