  • Pls be gentle with me!

    Hi all

    Decided enough was enough and i had to make a U turn in my life!

    I was working 70+ hrs per week, smoking 60 cigs a day and getting bigger and bigger.

    I quit the cigs 8 weeks ago, and piled on even more pounds, so now it's time to save my life!

    I havent bought a book or anything, but i got to start things today, so any help or suggestions would be very greatly recieved???

    Get the book, immediately.... It is practically impossible without it. And read it thoroughly... many people try to live the atkins way but they are not doing it the healthy way because they are not eduacated on it.. So for your own good get that book. You really need to sit down and plan out your meals for the following week, so there is no spontaneous cheating.

    On another note... I started atkins about two months ago and I must admit the first week was rough but after that I had no problem with this way of life... I love it and it also helps to see the weight fall off, obviously.

    So hang in there and get the book and good luck.

      First of all, congrats to you for quitting the cigs!


      Absolutely get the book - Reading all of the stickies on ADBB will give you enough information to get started NOW until you can pick up a copy. Imho nothing beats having DANDR so you can learn the hows and whys.

      The first few days might be a little rough, but its just your body detoxing from all the garbage you've been feeding it. Keep a water bottle handy and drink from it all day. Eat until you're satisfied, not stuffed.

      It DOES get easier, and before long you'll feel good again.

        lol, first off I love the name, that's what I call my hubby... Our last name is Ladd. Anyways... I can't stress to you enough that you have came to the right place.

        That first step is always the hardest. Just to get started I would cut out everything white. Example; flour, sugar, potatos ect....

        1. - get the book Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution!!! Buy it or get it from the library. Start reading it as soon as possible.

        2. - If you look through the forums and click on each one you will find at the top threads labeled "Sticky" READ THOSE!!!

        3. - There is an Induction forum and you should make that your first stop. It is the first place you will start off in this diet.

        During a two week Induction phase you will lose weight and it cleans up your body and gets it running right turning your body into a fat burning machine.

        Drink at least 64 oz. of pure water each day. (That does not include flavored water.)

        The best advise I can give you is to READ ALL LABELS!!! Watch for hidden sugars Also
        go to www.fitday.com and there you will be able to list everything you eat and it will count your cals., fat, carbs and protein for you.

        During Induction you want to only eat 20 or less carbs per day and you want most of those to come from veggies.

        Page 124 of the book will give you a list of everything you can eat during Induction. You may find the list somewhere here, I will check and if I find one I will PM it to you if it's ok with you.

        The support you will get here is like NO OTHER I have found. Welcome aboard!!!

          BigBadLad! First of all, a major congratulations on stopping smoking! Your lungs are so happy with you right now! Now, there is the issue of substituting that oral fixation with food, but you can do this too! (60 ciggies a day? Really? Wow! Your lungs are REALLY happy that's over!)

          The general rigamarole is eat whole, health, nutritious food, eat every 6 waking hours, drink water, water, and more water, exercise, and keep the faith! Measure yourself along with weighing yourself. The inches may come off faster than the pounds.

          I wish you every success and can't wait to see how you change!

                trust me ..I love beer!!! ..but somehow not having your tummy smile back up at you is much nicer than a cold beer ...congrats on quitting smoking that is awesome!!! and welcome
