  • Just Me : )

Hi All! I am so glad I found this website. It seems to have tons of information and inspiration. I am 25 years old and just started Atkins for the second time. I have been overweight my WHOLE life...and have tried TONS of diets to try and "fix" myself. I've tried Deal-a-meal, Slim-Fast, Weight Watchers, counting calories... heck, I've even tried the grapefruit diet! Nothing has ever worked for me except Atkins.

About two years ago I started Atkins and within 7-8 months I lost SEVENTY pounds. I vowed that I would never gain that 70 pounds back. Well here I am a year and half later and have gained about 90 pounds back. It is SO frustrating. But, I have no one to blame but myself.

I have reached an all time high... 365 POUNDS!!! I am sick of being overweight and am starting to worry about health issues (I have diabetes on both sides of the family). Anyway, I want to get this weight off. My ultimate goal is to weigh 150 lbs. That means I have to lose 215 lbs. which seems so unreachable. I know if I just stick with Atkins the right way it will work. My dad lost over 100 pounds on Atkins. Anyway, It's my second day on Atkins and so far, so good. I have a long way to go though. Hopefully the posts on here can help keep me motivated.

    Sincerely,
    inhisgrip

inhisgrip is a very odd name and I for one wish I could call you by your first name!

I know all about failure and weigh 330 pounds at 5ft 5 and am just re-starting Atkins, being on my fourth day today.

Maybe we can be shrinking buddies, though I should warn you that I am English and in the UK - an oddity on this board, unfortunately.

              Re: Just Me : )

I too failed with my past weightloss. I was working in a warehouse over the summer of 98 and I started at 340, size 28. By Setpember, I was 220 and a size 18. I was laid off and sat around a lot. I ballooned back upto 330, then got a job working Tech Support. I put on 50 more pounds. My ex and I started dating at that time too and I got comfortable. When we lived together, that's when I hit 425. Today, I start my induction at 375.7. I always got discouraged when I see people who only need to lose 25-50 pounds and I drop in with my story; I need to lose 170 pounds. It's comforting knowing I have people now who I can turn to who are really in the same boat. The good news is, most likely those pounds will come off quickly, yet I fear the 'plateau'. Count me in as a buddy you can turn to for extra support!

"Inhisgrip" meaning In God's Grip...sometimes just resting in the palm of His hand, but at others times He has to hold on to me real tight! haha Anyway, thanks for the encouragement Jimmie and Helena... being "shrinking buddies" sounds good. : ) My first name is Liz by the way.

Have you managed to keep to the eating plan for a week? I am on day 10 and have had no chocolate - a miracle!
