    Hi all!

    I started Atkins BY ACCIDENT on Easter 2005. I was SO anti-Atkins and very skeptical when a pro-Atkins friend basically said,"Ok. Do not do the 'Atkins diet', however, just eat what I eat and let me choose your meals for the next couple of days." I said yes because I had nothing to lose, right? WRONG! I lost 70lbs in a matter of months. I went from 210lbs to 140lbs!

    The reason I'm here is because I did not exercise much during this process. (I know, I know. Exercise is not an option). After loosing the last 20lbs or so, I became flabby. I now have Rolly Thighs and Wavin' Oprah Arms. My clothes disguise a LOT of this, but now its summer....swimsuits and such...

    I have been exercising regularly for about 2 months now. I hate all exercise except lifting weights HEAVILY. Because of scheduling issues, I will not be able to join the gym for another 2-3 mos. In the mean time, I walk. I'm learning to rollerblade, doing water aerobics, pushups, situps, etc., and will soon add bike riding to this. I have started collecting exercise videos to fight the boredom of exercise. Boredom is my worst enemy when it comes to exercising. Good God, Taebo works! When I was heavy, I could not get through the complete workouts.

    I guess I'm here because I have found that when you lose weight, your 'friends' and family can be big obstacles and not very supportive. I need support to continue to exercise. Atkins really has changed my life in so many positive ways.

    I started a daily exercise journal a couple of days ago. I'm learning that if I miss a day or two of exercise, just hop back on the horse and keep riding and don't give up. This lesson is invaluable!

    Congratulations on your wonderful success with releasing weight and reaching your goal!

        Welcome to ADBB. You'll find a lot of support here.

        There are a lot of exercise challenges going on. There's also a weight training thread.

        This board is a great source for inspiration, motivation, and support.

              Welcome!! I too enjoyed your story! Yep, exercise is not an option, it is the rule. I know all the comments made about this WOE and all I can say is....You don't have to tell me, look at my photos and what it did to me! That usually shuts people up.

                  Have you got any b4 and after pics? I find them a great inspiration and 140 is my goal weight. I think its great that you're incorporating loads of different activities to stop urself from becoming bored!

                  Did Atkins on and off from Feb 2005 until April 2008. Fluctuated between 15 st 1/211lbs and 11 st 1/155lbs.
                  On different weightloss programme from 28th May 2008 start weight 14 st 11/207lbs.
                  Current weight 10st 3lbs/143lbs.
                  Ultimate Goal Weight 9 st/126lbs.

                    CoolBlackChick, I know what you mean when it comes to family and friends not being very supportive. I am sick and tired of hearing "Well, next time you eat bread, pasta, cookies, pie, yadda, yadda, yadda, you're going to gain ALL that weight back!" Ok, so, 1 slice of bread is going to put 40 pounds back on me? Um.. ok! I'm tired of the nay sayers. Some people wanna trash this diet because they feel THEY can't go without all that stuff. Nevermind that YOU have the willpower to do it. This is what I tell them.. "Sit and eat a piece of bread, rice, or pasta. Really chew it and enjoy it. Now, when you're done, tell me how flavorful that carb laden item was! Yeah, I'll take a steak or filet of salmon over a tasteless bowl of carbs anyday!" This technique is what got me started. I ate some plain bread and realized there wasn't much satifaction in the flavor, it was the "fuller quicker" feeling in my belly that I liked. Since I have been on induction, I'm enjoying eatting turkey breast right out of the deli bag! Rolling it up w/ some swiss cheese and dipping it in mustard. Sure, I have to wash my hand afterwards, but soap and water are cheap! I went through the headache phase for 3 days, was hungry and miserable for about the same amount of time, but now, sometimes, I forget to eat! I was a pleasure eater, so I never thought I'd break the habit. But I did, and I feel more in control. All of us are here for you! Keep up the good work!
